Because this video helped me, I just want to share more information to help others. I travelled from Houston to Nigeria some days ago with an expired passport. I travelled with KLM and I had a stop over in Netherland. When I called KLM customer service some days before my travel, they had told me I could not travel with an expired passport but I went with faith to the airport. I showed the guy at the counter my passport, the printed letter I got from here. The KLM guy at the counter was like he is not sure I would be able to travel because of my stop over in Netherland but he was going to go to the back to ask his supervisor. He went in with my passport, then he came back and he said I was good to go. Gave me my boarding pass and all. I don't know if this helped but I went early to check in super early (first few on the line) so he had time for me, I was also firm about how Nigeria accepts its citizens with expired passports

I was able to travel with an expired Nigerian passport in Dec 2021 and also renew my Nigerian passport for 10 years in Abuja before returning to the UK. Thanks Sassy, this is really helpful. Nigeria is getting better no doubt. However can you confirm if you can use your expired Nigerian passport to leave Nigeria if you have a valid passport of another country. One would not like any nasty surprises on the way out, especially with Nigerian Immigration or airline staff

You don't need an expired Nigerian passport if your foreign passport states that your place of birth is Nigeria. One valid passport is good enough
