Making herb extracts - mint tincture

Making extracts from herbs is the latest homestead project in my have a go homesteader series. Here we are using alcohol to make a herb tincture of mint extract. Herb extracts can be medicinal or just for flavour!

Great idea using garden mint. I have made both vodka elderberry tincture and brandy elderberry tincture this year. Both taste amazing and is basically nature's medicine. ( a teaspoon each morning.) Thanks for the video.

That was fun! I think that extract would make a great Christmas gift for anyone who likes to make things in the kitchen! Also another use you might like for a natural oil tincture would be in a diffuser - we have one going in our bed room right now for a Christmas tree scent. Makes the holidays brighter! Just a bit more relatable - it's almost Summer in Australia so my mind is everywhere - so are the flies! As a migrant from UK I have never got used to them, - those the ants and the flipping spiders! So r he easy way...stick the whole mint stem in the blender with the vodka and then put it in a jar. Over time I use a filter to get the floaties out and it becomes clear (not vodka clear but clear of sediment)

Thanks for your content, love the energy. I do have a question, I feel like by the end of the process you end up with mint flavored vodka. Is there any way to isolate the two so that you have a purely mint extract that you can add into foods without having the vodka too?
