Spike Approach Timing
Показать описание
Some examples of mistimed approaches vs a pretty good one!
Being able to adjust your approach and contact at an optimal point is key as a hitter. A lot of athletes notice a big difference is power and fluidity when they get their timing better. Not only are we trying to contact at our highest point but also position ourselves well to hit the ball (not reaching sideways or behind me). The contact point will change depending on what you want to do with the ball, but the general idea is to keep it above and in front of you slightly, high and aligned with the Spiking Sequence's transfer of force.
Depending on your system and if the set is a bit off, you can sometimes come in a bit earlier or later. But if its happening majority of the time regardless of the set, then working on your timing can be beneficial. Also, being able to adjust in these situations to still get into a good position is key. This is a drill that can help isolate your approach sequence, pairing it with timing. You can also work on adjustment and other approaches with different tosses/sets from different places.
Keep putting in the work!
