OK, I live in GA and I worked for a South African boss for 4.5 years. Almost sounds to me like a Southern guy trying to do a SA accent. Not kidding. Per IMDb, the actor is British, so there you have it. He's working in GA and trying to play SA. LOL! Makes total sense!

I watched an interview from a man who is in the South African special forces and the accent is almost the same. It's never going to sound 100% right because the actor has to fake it. But it does confirm to me that that is what they are trying to do.

WRT Pope, consider the actor who plays him. He has a rich Euro accent in all of his film roles. More importantly, what's up with the first second of the trailer? A black clothed man seems to be presiding over a dead body and the rest of the reapers have their masks hanging near their waists. Smacks of a religious ritual of sorts. I'm more curious about that guy in front of the stage of stacked chairs. The actor who plays Pope is a sadistic guy. He's been in a number of films and causing pain with a deadpan face is his modus operandi.

After hearing it again, I'm thinking it's some kinda weird southern accent. I would expect "wrath" to be pronounced with a tapped (single roll) r and the a being like fox rather than fax in most SA English accents. Can't wait to find out regardless. Apparently the cool necklace thing and other pieces was sourced from a custom jewelry maker with an online store but the article purposefully avoided relating the costuming to anything specific plot wise.
