What Happened to Code Lyoko

Re-Upload because Mediatoon did a retroactive copyright claim that was clearly just to profit off my video and I'm not standing for that.

The shows great honestly. And the fandom is surprisingly still alive for some reason? its surprising.

I loved code lyoko growing up. The complex plot and characters kept me so entertained. I also loved getting to know the character's lives and struggles outside the computer world. Made me feel like I was actually a part of their lives as well.

As a french person, Code Lyoko evolution, was a continuation to the series, but still very bad, the live action really hurt the show, as the french actor, while ressembling the character (for the most part), didn't really know how to ... well, act. The casting was more centered around "Is the actor close enough to the character", than "Can the actor act ?"

Code Lyoko is a interesting case for me. It went from at one point being my favorite show, to me completely forgetting it existed beyond vague memories of the show from my childhood memory. The show certainly had a uniqueness I have never seen before or since and a shame it can never come back.

Code Lyoko was my childhood. I actually knew the show was French when watching it as a kid. I could tell it was dubbed and there are small indicators that it takes places in France. The kids always had croissants on their plates, some of the character's last names, when they zoomed out on maps it started in France, and the opening theme has a whole bunch of French names listed. It had a pretty solid dub, though. I'm actually rather sad that Moonscoop went under.

1:22 actually in the second half to add some sense of danger it was written into the lore that every time that they did a return to the past it made xana stronger so there were stretches of episodes where they didn’t go back

1. During the series, they did turn back time but they could never do that until Alita entered the code. HOWEVER, later on, Jeremy realized that going back time makes XENA more powerful and since then the gang struggled even more to keep the lab a secret.
2. Dude, the animation was in 2000s.
3. *DON'T MENTION THAT MONSTROSITY!! IT'S DEAD TO ME!!*

Code Lyoko was my jam as a kid. Truthfully a lot of shows were my jam, but I still love the opening of Code Lyoko, and the switch to 3D animation was probably my favorite part of the show.

Moonscoop fell into the digital sea, how sad they fell into their own CREATION!!!

Mixing the 2D and 3D never bothered me in the slightest. I actually liked that. Ironically, what DID bother me was when they added live action. That, and I wasn't wild about some of the plot choices. Or cast choices. Or pretty much anything to do with Evolution, really. And when you consider how many bad shows still get English dubbed and spoonfed to us, when one doesn't get that treatment? It's a red flag. One of several.

As a French person it’s really hard for me to accept the argument of the dubbing...
All of the movies in the cinema, all of the shows on TV are dubbed in French from English. It has always been like that and it has never stopped us from watching English speaking programs. Our translator and dubbers manage to do an amazing job to syncronize the mouth to the voice as much as they can. Why is it such a problem for English speakers?
(Also Code Lyoko évolution was really bad so I don’t mind about the opinion about the show 😂)

I still love how Code Lyoko was one of those cartoons that didnt include random powers of friendship or a emotional villain. It contained violence, pain and a sadistic virus. The way xana attacks is damn great and i love it, yet i dislike most episodes being repetitive, tower activated, virtualization, tower deactivated at the right moment.

"they travel back in time with no risk"

Uh actually they later learn X.A.N.A gets stronger with every Return to the past, and they say that "in the future we'll need to be more careful and use the return to the past sparingly, otherwise XANA will get more powerful"

Also you referred to X.A.N.A as a she, when its a AI, and the Lyoko Warriors refer to X.A.N.A as a "he" mostly, and "it" sparingly.

"the show was VERY formulaic" - season 1 was mostly deactivate tower, return to start of episode. Season 2 onwards had the mystery of Aelita, Franz and then the replikators. No real formula there with plenty of twists. Especially with William.

When you're a kid you don't care about certain things you enjoy things as they are. That's why I liked this show and many others (like winx, huntik, the last of the mohicans..) also if they were not always cometely logical.
I think that when you grow up you lose that magical feeling of "I don't have any idea of what's going on but iove it".

....You do realize that the whole 'time travel' thing was given the boot near the start of season 2 (for the most part), yeah? And for a damn good reason too.

Good shit regardless though.

Even it code lyoko is gone, doesn’t mean the idea or concept needs to be left in the dust
