Nice but I want to bring in my own external height maps, not generated waves or voronoi, or what ever. I think I have made it ... work a few times, but it was luck and I am not able to do it consistently. Idealy, I would like a deep bass relief carving, with a perfectly matched up color overlay -- like the colorized US coins that the have.

is it possible to create a displacement modifier using geo nodes but with the capability of triplanar mapping?

Thank you! Do you think you could possible show how to keep the perimeter edges flat? I'm really new to geonodes and just cannot figure this out..

looping UV gets seems when using this method while it still works well with displacement modifier method. Any fix for this?
