This is actually a Black Mirror episode, and probably the single episode that has stuck in my mind ever since. What an excellent show this is.

This is a definition of a real life horror movie

All of the comments saying, “This is so scary because this could happen to the future”, are completely missing the theme behind the episode. It’s a metaphor for how the military industrial complex desensitizes it’s soldiers to the acts they commit and dehumanizes the enemy. While this story is a “glimpse of our near future” like all Black Mirror episodes, it’s also analyzing something that’s being going on for decades to people we all know.

I love that this guy doesnt only commentate about a movie or episode in a monotone voice but actually sometimes goes off script and that he is just so extremely calm when scary things happen

This reminds me of another military movie where the young recruits were brainwashed into thinking their targets have alien parasites in the brain/inside the skull as they saw those simulations via goggle. And who they targeted were just displaced rebels or something like that.

"theyre vicious and prey on innocent people", really opens your eyes to both sides of the story. Neither side is evil but, it is fear and unwillingness to let go of past history that causes this solidified perceptions of "the other". I think about this when I hear of rebels or terrorists over seas. While I cannot condone and will always condemn hurting innocents, a lot of the perps dont see them as innocents. Theyve been hurt and "these are the people who did this to us!". Crazy dichotomy. As men you always have to question if what youre doing is ultimately right or just right for the circumstance, weigh pros vs cons and moral cost, and execute or not.

The comment about world war 2 is actually true. Thoses soldiers did trainging on circle targets so when then got infront of enemy they wouldn't shoot or woukd shoot over their heads. Thats why the targets now are the shape of people. Soldiers now shoot more then soldiers back then because of a simple shape. But thats why army targets went from circles to sillowets

This isn’t too far off tbh with all the websites like 23andme or ancestry etc. it works even if you aren’t the one giving out your dna, as long as enough people give it away even outside the people you still consider your family they can work out your whole genealogy with their database then class you on your probability of having X disease. I don’t see them going as far as in the movie, but big companies could have these data and decide wether you are worth to train or not, maybe insurance companies too

had a dream similar to this where people thought they were playing a regular fps video game but they were actually controlling real life people in a prison/ Deathmatch arena and after you got to a certain skill level or a kill streak then you’re kills become real you log into a real human body unbeknownst to the player and killing NPC‘s and people on the other team lead to the prisoners doing the same exact things the game was doing in real time.
