For those baffled by the things that were said, this was the norm back then, things like the weather and animal behavior were taken very seriously as omens.

Hector spends half the whole movie giving intelligent warnings to his very dumb king of a father and to his brother, they never listen to him, not once.
He spends the other half successfully defending his city and killing many Greeks. He takes the blame for Patroclus and get killed in front of everyone, much like an execution while the only thing he wanted was peace, and to be with the wife and child.
