Back in my day... 😂 a GT badge meant a nice beefy engine. Now it's just a trim level on a small engine.

I sat in one of these in the dealership recently and no matter how I adjusted things I just could not get a good view of the i cockpit display. It's a pity they did not include a heads up display. Would have been a perfect solution. For me anyway, as it is, it was a deal breaker. I'd just be constantly moving the seat and steering wheel trying to get it right. I thought it was just me...😂...great review ....cheers.

I was pricing 308 sw recently, price was well into 40s. Delivery eta was open ended. I can't believe the amount of big cars being pushed with 1ltr, 1.2ltr at present. Seems under powered. But the prices are over powered😮. Great review Mark

Have a new 2008. The engine is perfect for the car; quick, smooth, efficient. I'm sure the engine size will work here too. The engine capacity reflects new taxes in France re emissions and the home market is significant - not sure UK or Eire matter too much. Re. 'the electrics'! A trope past its time. Peugeot had a few issues a decade ago but the brand has topped some reliability surveys and does well in most others - the build quality of my 2008 is excellent. Add to this the fact that they look so much better than the standard UK brands and you have a very sound car.

I own the 1.2 GT, the 130bhp is fine, I happily chugged down the motorway and it stuck at 70mph without any issues, even went faster if you wanted it to.
I even made just under 60mpg on half the run and overall was just under 57mpg, that included road works, traffic jams etc, but on my next run I will stick to 70mph all the way, rather than between 60-70mph.

There is plenty of room inside, boot is huge, and if you want to compare it to something else, look at a mk4 mondeo, 2ltr petrol, it will happily keep up with something that no one ever said was a slow car, just because this is a 1.2ltr, it still has plenty of poke.

In the UK rather than Ireland, be aware of the £40k bracket as you will be hit with another £350 per annum on top of your normal VED, for like 7 years!

The PHEV's have a smaller fuel tank (40ltrs), they are great for shorter journeys but go any long distance and you will be out of pocket, both in money and battery power (I traded a 3008 Hybrid in for mine).

Really nice place to be in, enjoying mine after its long drive (420 miles).

I think this car is beautiful inside and out. I've owned the 3008 for a couple of years now and still love the car. It's in the Ultimate Red, which really does it for me. Yes that giant rear bumper is a bit obtrusive, but I don't mind it too much, since the rest of the car is so strikingly well designed. I will definitely have to look at the 408 as an upgrade option when I decide to do a trade-in. Peugeot continue to impress. I like Citroen too, but Citroen seems to lack the bold striking designs of Peugeot at the moment. As usual, fantastic review.
Just a question: why do you call yourself Nobby? I ask because I was always called Nobby at school. The reason being, that my surname is Nobbs. If that's you also, maybe we are related? :)

I'm interested to see how the full EV version turns out and what price they put on it. Not a fan of the current engine / power for the price.

Great review as ever Nobby but I will say like I did with the sister Citroen car with which it shares its platform but a tiddly 1.2 in a car costing nearly 40 grand, ehmmmm no. Call me unfashionable but I think if it had been made available with the 1.5 hdi which even though it has the same horsepower it has more torque and economy as an engine so it's a shame that it isn't an option.

Despite the prices of this, we should agree that Peugeot have the best looking and design cars of the market. Thier new cars look very gorgeous, agressive and attractive. For me, the problem of French cars compared to german one is interior which don't make me want to buy despite the gorgeous exterior.

You're right on the money. Peugeot are making nice cars atm, but they've pushed up the prices something fierce in the last 5 years. Why buy this over the
3008? Or even the 5008 with its signature 5+2 arrangement and room for 3 child seats in the middle row?
I think it looks well though.
People underestimate that 1.2T puretech engine, its an absolute ripper for its size and easy on the wallet. I've driven a few hire cars lately, including a couple of 1.6L & 2.0L diesels - I'd take that 1.2 petrol over them any day.

Think I commented on your last review of his car with the rear bumper. So they said let’s make a good looking car but stock a great big black blob on the back. Odd and ugly. It’s seems very expensive too. Great review Nobby.

In Ukraine we have 1.6 petrol (non-hybrid) with 215hp starting from 30k euro (allure pack). Just for your information )

Great review best on the net, would you have a black one to blend in the back bumper better or the obsession blue? I can't decide which to order? Which would you have?

I'm sure the 130bhp will be fine.
It's used in the 508 and 5008.
And at £10k less than the equivalent hybrid it's a no brainer.

I've got one identical to this coming in a couple of weeks, except in black. I currently have a 3008 Allure Premium with the same powertrain. I've had it 3 years, and the 408 is going to save me £50 a month on my lease. Bargain!!! £248 a month

Hi. I checked prices in my local dealership and right now they have it with the same engine with a discount for 29 900 Euro. So im very much considering it.

Quite possibly your finest review. Great looking car from the side, too fussy at the front, horrible at the back . Like sitting in a coal hole inside, with awful dash, 405 or 6 dash would be much better ! Ridiculous pricing.
