The famous Mew glitch in Pokémon Red & Blue allows you to do more than just catch the elusive mythical Pokémon. With the right steps, you can encounter any Pokémon, including some never meant to be battled, and even challenge Professor Oak!

Fun fact: you can also control the pokémon's level by reducing the trainer pokémon's attack stat. So, if you use growl 6 times on them, the pokémon that appears will be on Level 1. And when you level it up, it instantly becomes Level 100

Another Fun Fact About This:
You don’t actually have to defeat the Pokemon, if you enter the battle with poison and white out you can infinitely redo this glitch. I personally have 4 Mews on one save file for blue on 3ds, 2 lvl 100 and 2 lvl 7.

Careful with this glitch if you don’t know what you are doing. Some of the things you can encounter make Missingno. seem like a normal Pokémon by comparison. You don’t want ZZAZZ to ruin your save.

Works in Yellow too. Some of the glitch Pokémon you encounter will be different though. I once leveled up a yellow glitchmon and it learned the move "Mewtwo".

You can actually do it much easier
You just need to catch an Abra, teleport from that trainer, then fight the first gym trainer in cerulean, if you walk up the bridge straight from there, you get a level u mew
