Rear-ended on my motorcycle

A lady (not the one in the thumbnail) hit me from behind while checking Facebook. Good times.

Man, same thing happened to me when I yielded to an ambulance at a green light; I ended up riding to hospital in the ambulance I was giving way too.. Guy changed lanes to avoid the car slowing in front of him and slammed into me (already fully stopped) at 40-50kmph. Lucky the bike had a high tail and it took the direct impact.

Nice save by the way!! Glad they had insurance and you weren't injured, best kind of accident (short of not having one..).

Advice for next time, don’t pull over until they do, I learned this from a hit and run, your bike could be damaged so you might not be able to chase them down. Also if you are chasing them ignore the 911 operators telling you to stop following them because it they escape before the cops find them then you will not ever hear from them again

I'm not scared of driving fast or without complete gear, I'm just scared of other drivers.
The People are so blind and not awake, I trust no one on the streets.
All dangerous situations I had are based on the wrong behavior of others.

Stop towards the side of the car in front of you, handlebar/front wheel pointed on a path around the car in front of you, in gear, only the foot on the side you're turned to down, and eyes on your mirror.

It's the best setup to see a car coming, and all you have to do is hit the gas and drop the clutch to get out of the way since you're already configured to turn around the car ahead of you.

Worst case, if you can't get out of the way, you'll be more likely to be pushed around the car in front of you instead of sandwiched between them if your rear ended by someone going fast. ALWAYS HAVE AN ESCAPE PLAN!

Similarly, in a car, you should never turn your wheels if you're waiting to make a left turn across traffic. if you get rear ended, youll be pushed into oncoming traffic. Keep the wheels straight in a car until you start moving.

Happened to me on my new Road King with 1000 miles on it. Broke tail light, buckled rear fender. Woman that hit me had her husband call me to try and work something out. Soon as he heard me say the damage was 1000 bucks, he thought he’s being taken. Emailed him a copy of the estimate (that I got on the way home) and he still got mouthy. Told him I haven’t even talked to my lawyer yet and he straightened out. We ended up going through the insurance because he stopped contact. His agent told me he wanted to work it out because it was his wife’s fourth time hitting someone in the rear..🤦‍♂️
