How To Save Your Music Career In 2020 | Untold Reality

It's easy to make music, but understanding how to start a music career is an entirely different story. Lack of progress, not understanding music marketing, and making missteps can not only be discouraging, but can put your career in major jeopardy if you allow it to. Knowing what to do and how to do it is just as important as understanding things to avoid at all costs when pursuing a career in music with the goal of doing music full time. In this video I answer a question I receive time and time again in the hopes that it stops some of you from walking into failure.

This video really depressed me since I've been doing what Nick has been doing... for SIX years. Really a wake up call and now I'm terrifyingly motivated to actually continue with my life

I've worked with Adam Ivy in the past and still chat with him from time to time. What he's saying is right. You must live in the now which is the present, which is the future. I took off a year before to perfect what I felt needed help. I studied, I watched tutorials on things like engineering and making beat and without a doubt I can honestly say it was the best decision of my life. I'm not worry about the time I lost, I'm excited about the time I spent getting to know myself better as an artist. Learning what I like and don't like. As long as you're not sitting there just wasting your time doing nothing then you are good! Take everything you learned and apply it all. Be proud of what you took time off for. Don't worry about how long its gonna take to get a big audience, just keep working, networking and building that core following and you will be straight. Most important thing, BE YOURSELF!

Much Love!
This was a GREAT question & a GREAT video!

Sadly prior to 2019, I was taking bad advice from others, lost a lot of money in the process. It was only from early 2019 and up that I started to take different approaches and good advice, which gave me better results. Can’t let the past get to you. Acknowledge the past, learn, then move on 🙏

Your videos have had such a huge impact on my career this past month and I’ve only seen like 3 of them. You’re awesome man.

My biggest regret is not equally developing my marketing skills and artist brand as much as I have the craft. E.g. (producing/singing/composing)

sometimes these videos are the push i need to continue. Thanks for always grinding to get these out. something I regret is deleting old music/content thinking it wasn't "good enough" when really new fans would love to see how far i've come since i've started

I've been making music for about 3 and a half years, and last year I took a year long break to hone my craft better. I did release my music before, but all I could do was worry about my self-set deadlines and notice how I wasn't happy the mix, with the melody, etc. and the deadline got closer and closer and at some point I started to release stuff I wasn't even happy with. so, I stopped uploading for a year to learn more about music, learn more about mixing, and making music without a deadline and get prepared for this year. get my instagram setup, make a new logo, a new banner, etc. and guess what? I now feel alot more confident releasing my music again.

I got everything setup, I know what content I wanna make for my socials, I already have a new track ready for Februari, and busy making a new one for March. I got clips from Overwatch to upload on my insta (I love gaming and wanna show that on social media as well), I have made more contact with a photographer housemate who can make some pics/press photos for me, and all this thanks to a break

Thankfully I'm in a good place, I'm 15 and I wanna be a singer, I got some time to practice my craft. I won't hesitate when my voice and lyric writing is ready. Until then, I'll be working...

My regret of 2019 was doing weekly releases for a few months. I ended up rushing songs, cutting down the time on marketing/promoting the actual songs, resulting in them losing traction within a few weeks. Trying to “keep up with the content beast” just resulted in me releasing a bunch of songs that I could have stocked up and built solid marketing plans around. On the other hand, I was able to make some of my favorite songs that wouldn’t have been made if I didn’t continue the weekly releases, but my goal for 2020 is to take proper time before, during, and after the release of my songs.

Thanks for all you do.
