I like the information that you give. I have done some Glides for oval track use, and most of the time I used the 1.82 gear set. It is lighter, and in oval use, you just use first to get the car moving, and shift to high. I tricked up a valve body to blead off pressure in low and reverse so you don't need the hand valve when you direct drive the pump. Most of the time a converter is not used. The Glide is kinda old news since the Bert, Brin, and Falcon transmissions came out. All three have an internal clutch that you push in on the clutch pedal to get the car rolling, you release the clutch, and pull the lever to put it in direct drive. Oval racing is different than drag racing.

It always feels good to do a deep clean and service on personal machinery. I try to do my lathe and mill at least once a year.

I spent 3x more on my th400 than I did my Ls, my spending started at the tailhousing and ended at the bellhousing 😂. All your metal lathe videos have really pushed me to start looking for one, it'll be for a deal and i dont have much room but I'll make it fit.

Thank you for you videos . I would be interested to see the comparison between the 400 and 4l80 .

What about a 500 550 horsepower land speed car with a torque converter just to get it shaked out fix all the little things that comes with such a endeavor and then change into a direct drive hub when it gets real

When you do a manual valve body do you still have to use the vacuum modulator on the side of the case? Just a rookie trying to learn a little here

I bought a harbor freight mini lathe to do 400 forward direct pistons..they barely fit..but it worked great for the first 5 or so..then either the electronics or motor gave out...the mechanical parts are all solid..at the moment im using it with a screwdriver jammed in the back end of the chuck and a drill on the shank of the screwdriver..i plan to put a different motor and controls on it and get my moneys worth..just letting people know who may be considering one.

If a person wanted you to build him say a 1500 hp turbo 400 do you take a well-built powerglide in on trade?

My impression is PG with 5:13 gears for 8th mile then TH400 with 4:88 gears for 1/4 mile. But that's just me. lol

I've got a friend, 4l80 built by rosslor.his converter won't stall much.the converter co. Tells him it is the transmissions . Fault do to the charge pressure being to high. What do you think about the issue.
