Last year This race provided the espom derby winner Auguste Rodin this year Ancient Wisdom looks inline for classic honors

It's often tricky to weigh up the value of a 2 year old group 1 race when it's run on a bog. The winner should stay 12f+.

That's a tough little bugger. Looked completely beaten but then kept on to win.

Ancient Wisdom is obviously very good & handled the heavy ground. Looks like he’ll stay the Derby trip. Diego Velasquez travelled well up to the 3 furlong pole but finished last, so not sure if he didn’t stay or hated the ground, maybe a bit of both.

With a lot of rain forcast before the 2024 Derby
....looks hhe one to me...style of running looks tailor-made for Epsom....can picture him winning a shade cosily....City of Troy looks another Hawk Wing to me

smart tough winner...but ground played a huge part in result...

I backed Ancient Wisdom today, and brave and talented as he is, I cannot see him running at Epsom next year. The French Derby might be the better option, especially if he can get his preferred soft surface there.

I backed Diego (Frankel), no luck, but over the course of this season i'm we'll into profit by backing every Frankel in every G1 race in England, not forgetting Onesto (55/1) each-way and that French filly (28/1) on Arc day.

This result might well be different on better ground.Ancient Wisdom handled the ground better than the rest. The second and third ran huge races as well.Hard to access Diego Velázquez. He probably hated the ground.

Be very surprising if there is a classic winner in this lot. Even bearing in mind the ground, looked a sub standard group one.

Winner looked in trouble 3 out when the pace quickened. Definitely suited by soft going but ran through the line and he looks a stayer ?

If that race was ran on good to firm it would be different

Janet and I seen this race 😄😁, Ancient Wisdom has the potential to be a Great Horse, we know about the ground, how soft it was, but it doesn't matter!! He did his job, today, that's what counts. Congrats!!

Ancient Wisdom loved that ground what a beautiful looking Thoroughbred he is. Glad Aidans horse got up and although sore looks OK

Absolutely a derby horse, but there is a concern if the ground is in the fast side !!!

On the dam side its all french breeding - and u know they like it soft. This is confirmed by that very high knee action. He will most definately be at his best on soft to heavy ground. I wont be backing him for the summer races such as the Derby's.... Look at the amount of mud they were kicking up - that's borderline quicksand!

A little bit of a messy race, quite hard to know what to take away from it? The ground wasn't good but then again it rarely is in this race.

He has a bit of knee action but its a short choppy stride. No 2000 horse but epsom is a maybe and St Leger looks a dot.
