Are mild updates enough to keep the 2022 Macan current, and to justify its steep price?

In 2022, Porsche sells three flavors of Macan. Dave Undercoffler tests the mid-range Macan S through the hills of southern California. It's a small crossover with a price tag that gets big, and fast, but Porsche has added some interior upgrades, and as always, the Macan handles and drives like a true Porsche.

I recently rented one for the weekend. The way it drives is amazing. But once I got past that, I found the tech disappointing. The lane keep assist didn’t pull the car back into lane, it just made an audible warning. The back up camera quality was poor. And the headlights at night were very disappointing. I found the headlights on Audi and bmw much better. But damn if the macan wasn’t the best suv I’ve driven recently

It’s a great SUV. Recently sold my ‘17 S. Debating what to get next… You need deep pockets. My last service was $3000 for new brakes/rotors, tires & 30k service. I had a few recalls with my S as well. A bit frustrating. Not a fan of the new front end, if I’m being honest. Squared front grille a bit too much. May try X3M next…

the red interior looks classy and works with any age I like it a lot. if it was like the Toyota Red interior to me. that is too bright I would prefer darker tuned down colors.

The median Macan customer has a household income of $400k according to Porsche’s research. $85k isn’t a problem for these folks, neither is the maintenance or gas prices!

as much as we love porsche and the quality of their vehicles. the value falls way short for this vehicle. Especially considering the average combined mpg is 21 and it takes premium fuel. Doesn't have remote start or push start. I know porsche does this to honor their heritage but there comes a time where the past has to be let go to make room for the future.
