I have a brand new Laars JX Minitherm Boiler and Bradford While Indirect Water Heater. I keep the aquastat on water heater at 115F and it is perfect! Not only do I have plenty of hot water but I understand the lower temperature will improve the longevity of the unit. The water heater is all stainless steel and has a proprietary water inlet tube design to mix the cold water with the hot and keep down scale. The water heater has no burner and is actually just another zone for the boiler to heat. In summer months, this is the only zone that operates and the boiler fires very infrequently to heat the water. Excellent unit!

I do run the water heater hotter which also gives longer shower times without running out! But it's just two adults in the house and we always warn people that come over that the water is HOT!

You can also install a mixing valve on the hot line just after the tank, and turn up the temperature on the tank. This has the effect of essentially increasing the capacity of the tank, while still preventing scalding throughout house. Based on what you said, maybe it would be better placed after branching off to supply the machines.

You did nail it but could you repeat it fast 5x? I knew 4 of the 5 but never thought of the washing machine temp.
I have a couple shirts I really love but left them wet in the hamper for a week. Tried to wash out the moldy smell but I think the temp was too low to kill the bacteria. Next wash I'm gonna turn the temp up just for the washing cycle to see if that does the trick. Ofc I'll also have to remember to turn it back down after. I'm gad I clicked.

You must also consider temperature settings to control bacteria that come in from the city water. If you set your water temp too low you run a risk of getting legionares disease by breathing in bacteria in your shower which quickly multiply at lower temperatures in the water heater. You may want to research this a little or you could literally DIE from setting your water heater temps too low.
