in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, we see Anakin's final pivot to the Dark Side, killing Padme and being reborn as Darth Vader. As he is raised to face Palpatine on the surgical table, he comes to remember everything he did, and is told by Sidious what he did to Padme. There's a line darth vader says that will always give me chills and appreciate just how tragic anakin Skywalker really is. When vader fought darth maul in one of the EU Comics, Vader impales himself with his own saber to kill maul and when maul asks what he hates so much in order to kill him, Vader replies "Myself"

wiether Padme died of a broken heart..or Palpatine had something to do with her death... she died and Palpatine was glad. becasue he never wanted her alive if she lived then Vader never would be completely loyal to Palpatine...

Padme being alive would mean she might find away to get Anikin to turn on him.

Palpatine totally killed Padme, draining her life to save Anakin's. How else would he know she was dead? She and Obi Wan had left before Palpatine arrived. The way he smirked when Vader realized his wife was dead since he couldn't feel her presence anymore said it all. If he had nothing to do with Padme's death how would the emperor know she was dead or alive?
