Type shit I’ll be taking a bath in when I’m covered in cybernetics in 2077

Imagine destroying a data centre by pouring in a bucket of common salt in it.

Basically a nuclear reactor without the radiation

Water doesn’t conduct electricity, minerals is the water do.
The electrons skip off the surface of the water until they find something

"It's gaining popularity in data centers and high performance computing"... Proceeds to show a diver doll and its inseparated duck friend going full RGB

Cant wait to see high tec PC gamers using this with their multi thousand dollar setups now

As a Data Center engineer I can tell you this is a fad and a highly messy cooling solution, while decently effective the logistics of having a data center cooled like this are insane.

This makes me imagine a deep underground facility that's basically an underwater city sized computer

I never knew i will live to see electric circuit work comfortably submerged in liquid.

The Cray-2 supercomputer was cooled this way back in the 1980s. The mainframe was a C-shaped aquarium filled with a liquid called Fluorinert, which was cooled in a translucent waterfall system that cascaded behind the mainframe. The whole thing looked pretty cool.

As someone who worked in a data center, this would be VERY helpful 😢

The fluid has a shelf life has to be drained out and replaced fyi it’s not cheap to operate so don’t get any ideas

3M has made the decision to discontinue manufacturing 3M™ Novec™ Engineered Fluids, 3M™ Fluorinert™ Electronic Liquids and 3M™ Performance Fluids by the end of 2025.

Whoever added a rubber duck 🦆 is a genius!

Omg thank you all for the likes :O
glad you found my silly comment funny :]

Now we know what kind of liquid Cyberpunk Edgerunner characters are using while taking a bath.

Dielectric or deionized water like this is also used in manufacturing to cut even the hardest metals to extreme precision. sinker EDM, or wire EDM machines which use a brass or copper wire/electrode that conduct the electricity to "burn" or cut shapes into whatever material while its fully submerged in this fluid for cooling to prevent heat warping.
