The Mikro has all the same capabilities of the regular Mk3...you just have to do some of them on the software only and not the hardware. It's not fair to say that the Mikro is limited, because it's not. It just forces you to do some things in the software. Some people won't like that, which is fine. If you want to only use hardware and barely use software, then get the regular MK3. But if you don't mind working in the software to chop your samples, then save some money and get the Mikro. It's not just for beginners. I've been making beats since 1996 when I bought my first MPC2000, and I just bought a Mikro this week. Otherwise, Sarah, good video.

This is exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks Sarah. Hearing the explanation from someone passionate about their craft is so much more real than someone trying to sell.

Just get the DeckSaver for your MK3, they were meant to put gear with knobs and faders safely in any bag you want... and get it from Juno UK, they have them for much less than the inflated prices USA shops sell them for! Even with the air mail shipping, it’s less than half price. And no sales tax. I now have DeckSaver for all gear I have. (The availability of a DeckSaver or not for particular gear has even influenced some of my purchases, lol!)

I hope they do a MK4 that's standalone. They would own the market.

Roland has a great backpack for their SPD-SX that will work perfectly for the Maschine MK3 Macro ❤I think that you will love it and if you want to you can add a square piece of foam rubber as an extra layer of protection for the knobs. The CB-BSPD-SX bag. Check it out and let me know if it works for you Alvin F. 😊

the way i look at it what you cant do with the box
you can do with the mouse in the computer within the software

To anyone who has a problem with not being able to chop samples from the Mikro hardware... use the Serato Sample plugin. I just got rid of my MK2 (macro) and got a Mikro MK3 and my workflow didn't change that much. I rarely used the screens on the MK2, so not having them on the Mikro isn't affecting my workflow.

From all the reviews I've seen, before I purchased the Mikro, I would say it's mainly about your workflow. In-studio vs on-the-go and if you're MORE in-the-box vs being MORE hands-on.

I just got the Mikro MK3. First piece of Native Instruments gear. You have motivated me to give it a shot

I think Ski Beatz has his line of bags called SounBag that can fit the Maschine, a laptop and some 12 inch records, so you can check them out. They got really cool designs, but they are pretty pricy (around $150 or more). Peace! ✌️😎

I was going to get the micro for the longest time but I decided to buy an Mashine mk3 because of the screens and the inputs. Very useful.

Thinking of getting the Mikro for sure. Eventually I wanna get the MK3 but yeah, gotta live within my means for now 😆

umm ... but if you like to chop samples, then why wouldn't you get the MKII ? I just picked up the MKII and I personally like it better than the newer version. The only thing I wish it had was the strip and the quick group access buttons, asides from that.. I think it is still a great maschine.

I had the same issues with the knobs on my mk2 and now it gives all kinds of crazy values when I'm not even turning knobs. I suggest you get a decksaver to protect your screens, knobs, and buttons for your MK3. I did for mine, and I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner for my MK2.

Thank you soo much for the comparison.. 1!! I would love to meet you someday and learn more from you and 2 I was thinking about getting the maschine Mk3 since I already have the mikro 2..

For me, the bigger instruments is what I always started with because the smaller less featured things would frustrate me and become too limiting, the screens I need so I can see what’s what in each key and that’s just me, I love your reviews

these fancy computer connected maschine samplers are cool, but I enjoy older standalone samplers (the Akai MPC2000xl, for example). They are very simple, but very good at what they do and I don't have to commit to a whole swarm of software environment aspects, since dependency on software makes me uncomfortable. The MK3 is a lot of fun and is probably one of the most intuitive samplers I have ever used. I just wish they would allow for standalone operation. The mikro seems a bit... neutered?

Dang! I was about to pull the trigger on a mikro for the travel aspect, but the sample chopping is def the killer! Good thing I found your vid, been a fan for a long while but didn't know you had made this. I take my mk3 everywhere so I definitely want to take care of it but
