So cool your putting this out. What a way to give back to the open source community, you and a couple other cats (you've mentioned them from time to time) are giving the rest of us the knowledge and tools to pass it on, hell, you've got me taking the steps to put together my own channel to keep passing it on. Kudos brother and thanks.

Congrats on the 50K. Great video on behind the scenes of your channel. Few questions.
1) Has your channel become your main source of income?
2) How many videos did you have uploaded before you started to see your channel take off?
3) When you first started what was the frequency of doing videos compared to now?

I really feel like tech tube is one of the best niche to get into! Just to have videos ready for when people look them up or share in real life to help answer questions. I’m new to it and it’s been so beneficial already!

Keep making content, I love watching your videos. Entertaining and engaging, you got me back into working on my homelab.

This video was so good! It inspired me so much. Congratulations to 50k, you're awesome bro! 😁

People tend to think of the 'glamourous' side of being a content creator, without thinking of the amount of work that goes into just one single video. Great and honest video, Tim. And congrats on the milestone!

On a side note, I miss the little animation you used to put at the start of your videos. It kind of reminded me of the Thermaltake logo lol.
On the other hand, the live streaming clip at the end of each video is a step up from the reminder that you live stream at the start of each video.

I only recently discovered your channel and find it a nice mix between useful and entertaining. Congrats on the 50k 🎉

Since your outro mentioned running out of ideas, some brainstorming that would peak my interest:
- Ceph basics
- Ceph Object storage as a mount (I see lots of YT channels add more NASes as storage needs grow, but I'd be interested in Ceph used there, since you wouldn't need to create new mounts or shares whenever storage increases.)
- VM networking possibilities
- docker networking possibilities
- rancher or k3s networking
- possibilities with k3s "Ingress"
- playing around with HashiCorp Nomad, Consul and Vault.
- rack mounts and patch panels, why use them, do you ever mount things in your rack on the same height (e.g. One in the front, one in the back, at the same height) and why not?
- redundancy in software engineering and networking, your take on that, and possibly how to achieve different HA setups across data centers.
- networking, VLANs, network security. How and when you'd use a vlan
- what do you automate in your home lab? And why? And why not more?
- personal life, how does your hobby and YT Channel affect your family life?
- anything related to multiple devices (E.g. Ipad, Windows, Linux and Android in the same environment) and how to sync what
- maybe home automation? Personal dashboard project? Lots of people have done one before, but everyone has different tastes, desires and backgrounds. What would a personal dashboard (E.g. Pi powered mirror with calendar events) look like from a software engineer standpoint?
- optimizing wifi networks for multiple access points serving the same network, for example with unifi
- self hosted database clustering (MySQL as well as NoSQL, perhaps even across DCs)
- self hosted serverless / openfaas / knative
- self hosted server backup solutions

I'm sure you won't run of ideas any time soon 😅

I think I follow your channel since the beginning, and I find it underrated. It deserves far more than 50k, because the content is much more valuable than many "larger" channels. I wish that google introduced a *value rating* for videos instead of just thumb up or down, so this content was more likely promoted than silly time wasters.
👍💪🙏🍀

I was from almost the start and it’s really great to watch how your content keeps improving. All the best Tim!

Hi Tim, Love your content. It would be amazing if you could create a series building a home lab from scratch. Your videos have all the components, but it would be epic to see you start from bare metal, install proxmox then deploy containers for reverse proxies, deploy certs, create internal dns, etc etc from start to finish. Including all the details. This way there aren’t any conflicts for viewers when trying to string together a couple of your videos that are done slightly differently or with different versions, or different dependencies. Again, thanks and keep up the good work.

You absolutely deserve all your subs and more! I’ve learned so much not only from your YouTube videos but from the awesome people in your discord server! :)

Congrats on the 50k (now 55k) subs. Your video style is easy going and something I enjoy. Hope the channel keeps on growing for you.

I think in many ways this is your best video yet. Probably the most relaxed and natural. Congratulations on the achievement ! Is it really only a year ?
And thanks for the past content too, I've learned so much from you in the last year about things like proxmox, home-labbing and home-networking; I still go back to those videos as reference because there's always something else to be learned !
Of course now I'm going to have to go back and look at the filming and technique...oh man 🤣🤣

Favorite tech channel right here! Your content has helped me with my homelab so much recently. Typical homelab, started with a Plex/HDHomeRun and now its an HA 3 host Proxmox VE, VLANs, multiple domains, SSL on exteranly exposed (need a better traefik setup than http-01), docker, portainer, and recently kuberenetes haha. Why do I have kuberenetes running in my house? lol I've worked in IT for 18 years and managed to keep infrastructure out of my house, so thanks I guess for making this easier to do more IT at home haha kidding but seriously thank you for the great content! This really has helped me expand my skillset.
