If you come to a stop smoothly it doesn't turn off only if you engage the brake pedal in a slightly firm way. I assume you might drive aggressively that's why it annoys you?

"Never drive in this mode"

Doesn't give a reason why not to.

Fail.

The cars emission rating is based on start stop, that's why manufacturers won't let you disable it permanently.

Holy shit. Who would have known the button that is labeled as the function you want to change will change the function you want to change. Really ground breaking content, you're doing gods work.

It makes a significant difference in fuel savings, engineering explained did a video explaining it and showing the difference in fuel consumption

My ram with the Hemi Etorque has a very seamless start/stop that you don’t even notice. The etorque will get the truck moving before the engine even start when leaving stoplights.

For me auto start stop is not useless...I like the silence when waiting for greenlight...don't know what is the fuel saving, but living in a big city and being caught in trafic jams is something regular I can see the benefit. Anyhow that is why there is the option to turn it off...for some it's nice for others they can turn it off so useless debate.

This is very handy for my Range rover that I'll never have thank you so much.

It may be annoying, but the purpose of auto start/stop is to reduce unnecessary engine idling emissions.

A useless feature? My 3 minute stoplight waits would beg to differ lmao

Wear isn't a problem either, an engine doesn't experience any wear at all from starting, it's a common misconception. The problem is running the engine while it's very cold, and the start/stop will turn the engine back on before it cools off. From a wear perspective, starting an engine while hot is no different from revving it a bit. Start/stop does, however, reduce the total runtime of the engine, which does prevent wear, as every revolution of the engine induces wear.

And if you're concerned about the starter motor; it's literally designed for this. The only problem is that you have to use a high-quality battery, which is a bit more expensive.

Ill tell you one thing, Auto stop/start was not useless in my Gti. I experimented alot with it and it did save alot on Mpg. Idk about other cars but in a Gti it really does work

In pretty much any BMW made in the last 20 years you can remove start/stop completely with some very simple coding

"Useless feature"

Let's multiply the amount of fuel saved by the number of cars that use this feature. Massive consequences.

Imagine driving a car from point a to point b without changing modes.

I don’t know why this guy saying auto start stop an useless feature but for me it’s a much satisfying feature. First of all it saves lot of fuel when you wait at red lights and especially in traffics. Another thing the silence once the engine shuts off. I love that. Very useful feature.

Why is it a useless feature, saves fuel and works seamlessly in my car

I honestly don’t mind it.. especially with the “Auto Hold” break setting on. Those two settings in conjunction are amazing, especially at a red light
