"When we're worried about ourselves it leads us to suffering, taking care of others leads us to freedom" This quote hit me hard!

One day I was at my chiropractor. A gentleman, older than me, was seated in the waiting room with me. Tall, very athletic, serious countenance. Absolutely clearly out of the blue, the man turned to me and began speaking to me. Why? I had no clue…And this is what he told me:He was a military pilot during the Vietnam War. Shot down, he was close to death. And he had an NDE, though he did not call it that, he used some other term. And he began to describe the experience. What was most powerful to me was not the experience itself, but his countenance as a person. He had the demeanor of a very serious, no nonsense, military person. Perhaps, you know, maybe the absolute last person who you might think would believe in such things. And yet, there it was. The testimony of this person. And, without pride, without ego, simple, direct, matter of fact. And, he concluded by saying that after the experience, he felt that he was supposed to share the experience with others.I don’t know that I am conveying this well, in words. It was the power of the presence of the man, in person. I guess you might say that there was some spiritual light or spiritual power about him? Not sure exactly what or how to phrase that?May everyone be filled with the peace and love and joy and blessings of God!

Your accident reminds me of my brother Ray, who was a Newton, MA firefighter USA...He was burned with Metallic Sodium which burns with water...He was burned 90 per cent of his body worse than acid and put in an induced coma for about 6 months...He was blinded, lost much of his hearing...disfigured but lived and after over a year of in the hospital, he was in and out to stretch his skin and operations... Ray, had an angel for a wife and lived for almost 30 years...Just this last year my younger brother Robin died of Cancer which he kept to himself until the end days....Ray, had a heart attack 10 weeks later, and died. Ray's, wife said Ray, could not get over losing my brother, understand your pain, as a family member...God be with you.. You look very handsome and strong...

Greetings from Czech . I have this experience, Three years ago, as a pedestrian, I was hit by an inattentive driver at a speed of 40 m/h, coma, tunnel light and when i after few days wake up, there is one thought-, , NEVER give up. We have just one chance. This life is a gift."After accident I couldn't write or speak.Learn everything again. A book came before two months and I read and write poetry. Faith in life, in people. Always think positively. ALWAYS.
Merry Christmas to ALL.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
I’m alone and your words meant more to me than you will never know.
I’ve been disabled for over 25 years. I am at the end of my rope.
I pray I will find the strength so once had.
God bless you.

Hi. I'm here in Israel, too,
trying to overcome the result of these last few years of many kinds of severe stress. Your talk touched me and spoke to me. I think you were lucky in having so much loving support. After 50 years in Israel, I miss my U.S. family so much; with age (75) friends have all died or moved away or are themselves very sick.
I've been thorough many hard times, pulled through.
This time I am shaken to my core, as you were wonderfully frank and open to describe in your experience.
I agree 100% with everything you say; I think it will help me find the way. Toda raba. יישר כח
Of course I loved the very end of the talk, smiling through tears.

Search for meaning... Viktor Frankl anyone? This is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for being so charitable to others by simply doing what we are called to do: to love others! Brilliant!

Very inspiring story. I need to get back to doing more charity work, and getting more involved with my community beyond my child's school.

Thank you, Yoav Asa, for your unparalleled example of fortitude and selflessness. If we all took responsibility in a serious and loving way as you do, there wouldn't be starvation, ignorance, and warring disputes. You are an impressive role model for all.

I have never been so emotionally connected to this Ted Talk. He was truly amazing.

i have never heard responsibility described as the ability to respond. that is very poignant and profound to me.

and when he talks about worrying about ourselves vs taking care of others — he is talking about selfishness vs servant leadership!

very excellent insights and i am grateful this video popped up in my feed.

Such an incredible story. People forget that electricity can jump. It's interesting that he ends with connecting service and healing. These two together can move mountains.
