How to stay warm and still look nice ❄️
🩱 Base layers!
These will make or break your winter outfit. I'm wearing a tank top and one pair of tights now, but once it gets colder I upgrade to a merino wool long sleeve top and thermal tights. You can also layer several pairs of tights.
👗 Dress
The first layer of "on display" clothing. I'm going for a dress, but you could of course do a top & skirt or pants.
⛄️ Petticoat
An extra layer of synthetic fabric that adds a lot of warmth. I also feel like when you bulk up in lots of layers of clothes, a petticoat makes your skirt flare out nicely and look more proportional. It balances out the bulkier top of the outfit.
🧦 Socks
I'm going for regular cotton ankle socks now, but you can bet when it gets colder I'll be wearing long wool socks instead. Knee high socks or leg warmers are also fantastic!
👢 Warm boots
These are essential. I'm wearing the VIVAIA Ryan slip-on boots here, but I also have knee-high options for when it's cooler. All VIVAIA boots are made of stretchy fabric made of recycled water bottles. They're super comfy with bouncy soles, and are water repellant so they'll keep your feet dry.
Code loepsie15 will get you a nice discount on their website until December 3rd!
🧶 Cardigan
I like to always wear a layer I can take off or put on during the day as needed. In this case it's a cropped wool cardigan, but it could be a sweater or blazer instead.
🧥 Coat
None of my puffer jackets have ever kept me as warm as this 100% wool, knee-length coat. And I daresay this looks a lot nicer, too.
🧣 Accessories
A scarf, hat and gloves are essential. Don't be afraid to layer up on these as well if needed!
And there you have it, a formula for a toasty warm but still aesthetic winter look ☺️🌲
