I'm a 43 year old good ol boy life long TEXAN. Damn Zach you had to have known my wife and myself. You see my beloved wife died in my arms on March 16 2017 which absolutely devastated me in ways I never knew possible. This song is one of my favorite healing songs. My wife Heather and I would everyday sit on our back porch and watch the sunset, which in the panhandle of Texas we get some that are utterly beautiful. Now everytime I see one of our beautiful sunsets, that is my sweet Heather just telling me that she's alright. Zach everytime you do a love song about a man and a woman it really sounds like you are writing about Heather and myself, there is no way around it you had to have known us and the very rare type of love we shared. I'm a Navy veteran that disregarded this part of my life as she was passing, as there were so many conflicts between my mama and I at the time.
