Do you rely on the scale to assess your weight loss progress? Or have you been told that you have a high body mass index, or BMI, but aren’t sure what that means? Although knowing your weight and BMI can be helpful, knowing your body composition can give you a much better picture of your overall health. In this video, we’ll be discussing how you can improve and measure your body composition.

I think this is one of your best videos. This is the advice I could have used years ago. 

FWIW, elastic bands were my move when they closed the gym, and even though they reopened it, I'm still using them, even though I used the Nautilus type equipment and free weights before. I miss maybe three machines, but not enough to go to the gym. For resistance training, I recommend Dr Ben Bocchicchio's "15 minutes to fitness."

I relay on my clothes means asap I need a belt for my jeans to hold it up I order a jeans a size smaller. I was Keto from September 27, 2019 to December 5, 2019 then I switched to Carnivore. I lost almost 8 sizes since then yesterday I ordered a size 8 jeans cause I need a belt to hold up my size 10 jeans. I will use this jeans as my new measurement tool until I fit into it and asap I need a belt for this size 8 jeans I will order the next smaller size lol. I go every 3 months on the scale during my quarter yearly doc appointment, I banned my own scale into the basement and buried it under a pile of junk. I can get very obsessed with weighing means in the past I hopped every time I went to the bathroom on the scale when I wasn’t at work and was obsessed with every gram I lost or gained. Now I know I have my peace of mind for 3 months and the only thing which is reminding me that my body is changing to the better is the fit of my clothes. My priority is my health and body composition aka weight/fat loss is a bonus.
I was a size 26 almost 28 in 2019 now almost a size 8 lol

I’m enjoying your video, thanks for the information!
I used a suit coat that I couldn’t button to determine if my body composition was improving. I took a photo each week until I could button the suit coat easily.
Although I was able to button it easily, over the next couple of years of COVID (I thought I’d use COVID as an excuse) I gained the weight back!!
So here I go again trying to improve my body!
I’m good at looking weight, terrible at maintaining a healthy weight!

You left out those of us who cannot walk well due to needing both knees replaced, that can only exercise with water resistance, swimming or walking in the pool using the water resistance training.

Dr. Bret you rock! Clearly explained as always. Love it. I do squats and push ups while at work. As many as I can for 1 minute (while the frozen section slide is in hemotoxlyn) :) great way to use my time. I've convinced some of the histologist and residents to join me :)

84cm waist and my height is about 187cm soo that's nice, it indicates that i'm pretty insulin sensitive. And my weight is about 70kg and it seems like i have plenty of subcutanous fat (coz i can grab quite a bit of it) soo all of this indicates that i have pretty low visceral fat.

This video is great however would you be amenable to commenting on a body that has a large bone frame vs those who have small bone frames - sometimes called “bird bone” . There’s a vast difference in weight for a person who’s height/weight ratio is not according to statistical considerations for overweight/obese/morbidly obese.
