- About Dr. Mary Claire Haver and The Galveston Diet -
Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a passionate women’s health advocate who believes women in midlife deserve to live their best life. She cuts through fat-shaming and fads, so women are empowered with the science behind anti-inflammation nutrition.

Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a wife, mom, physician, and entrepreneur who has devoted her adult life to women’s health. As a Board-Certified OBGYN in the Houston area, Dr. Haver has delivered thousands of babies, completed thousands of well-woman exams, counseled patients, taught residents, and did everything an academic professor and OBGYN could do.

As her patient population aged, Dr. Haver was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn't until she experienced the changes of menopause and mid-life weight gain that she realized this advice doesn't work and ultimately led to her creating and developing a new program, The Galveston Diet.

The Galveston Diet is the first and only nutrition program created by a Female OBGYN, designed for women in menopause. The Galveston Diet helps women reach their health and wellness goals through an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition. Dr. Haver believes in food's power to combat inflammation and highly recommends the unlimited benefits of intermittent fasting. As part of her ongoing research, she became certified in Culinary Medicine in 2019, specializing in medical nutrition.

Mine is 0, 77🥳, my waist is 85 cm and my hips are 110cm. Here in Holland they say that indeed belly fat is more dangerous then the fat that sits around your legs or arms.

But I’ve always been blessed by the fact that If I gain weight.. it gets more around my hips legs and but then my belly! Genetics is everything!

Cause some people if they gain weight their belly grows but their legs stay tin. You can’t beat that 😘 it’s just how your body works

Waist to Hip ratio theory works well for those with an hour glass shape but not well for other body shape types.

I am apple shaped, so i have thin legs, arms and butt, i carry all my fat in my boobs and tummy, i can see in child picturs that i have had the same body shape my whole life.
This can't be for everyone. We are built different...

Hi, I have a question. What if someone just doesn't have a slim waist but isn't overweight? My torso is pretty straight and my waist is not very defined naturally. A lot of women do have a noticeable waist but I don't.

You guys are leaving out the naturally curvy melanated folks, again. What can we do about “standards” like this that lead to health disparities? Asking for a friend….

I have a question: What about ladies who suffered diastasis as a result of carrying a large baby/ twins? I haven't had a defined waist since my first pregnancy 20+ years ago!

Wait a minute. My hips spread with my stomach. The smallest part of my waist is 29. My hips are 43. But the biggest part of my stomach is 32. Based on this ratio I’m doing good. But, based on my mirror and jeans I need to lose weight.

I always cringe with these- they don't take into account the big butt girls with fatty arms, thighs, and breasts but the ratio is low because the waist is low compared to the big booty - it's for flat butt people Plus there's a 2 inch difference in WHERE you think the waist is Across the belly button, or the narrowest part of the midsection, or an inch under the lowest rib, or midway between the iliac crest and the rib So just get a DEXA
