One of the first setups you’re taught in folkstyle wrestling.
As a teacher and wrestling coach, this is a very clear, to the point explanation.
Less is more.

Simplicity is key in fighting. A solid double leg, inside trip, single leg, ankle pick 360 to berimbolo, always keep it simple.

Judo uses it a lot. Wrestlers use it. Simple and effective

Straight and to the point won't wow a crowd but it can save your life.

Simple is good. My most common and successful takedown is a simple body drag using an underhook and an overhead, it's supposed to be used as a set up for a throw but because of the amount of pressure it puts most people sort of just drop before a throw can be executed. I'm a Jiu Jitsu brown belt and I can't stress how easy and successful this move is. And if ur a big guy then this move is definitely for you. It's neither flashy nor fancy nor is it even exciting, but it works and if u are wanting to do fancier moves then like I said this is the set up to use for those flashy throws you like. The taller ur opponent is however the more difficult it's gonna be to pull this move off, but I mean if ur opponent is much taller than u then I'd suggest you use a running the type styled set up for a takedown. I mean it'd be ridiculous to use an overhead styled technique on an opponent that's towering over you, cmon'. 😝

Judo player here. What I miss in the instruction is the part where you unbalance your opponent. If he doesn't have his weight on the foot you are hooking your leg in the throw doesn't work. Here it does because your partner is a good practice partner but as soon as he resists it wouldn't work anymore. You have to break his balance first and him making a step forward is usually not enough for that - at least not in a "fight"

Day 1 stuff. Simple effective. Don't over complicate things. Simple is easy. Easy is fast

This one is good, but important is that you make the underhook while falling. Otherwise you risk getting your back taken. Just my two cents.

From this O-uchi Gari, if you place your hips on the knee and your ankle is placed under your opponent's ankle correctly you can actually do a knee bar.
Be careful with this one if you're not used to it you can easily injure your opponent 😬

Looks like "Safada" that Fernando Terere used to do back in the day

Besides single and double leg take downs this was one of the first taught to us

I've seen that one in the cage. Not mma but I have seen some Muay Thai dudes fold people's legs like that! Also very nice takedown!

Just did this at practice a couple weeks ago. Good stuff

JT does almost the same takedown and it’s very effective

My most common and successful takedown is the body drag using an overhead and an underhook. I do it a lot because it uses Greco Roman grips and it's the best set up for a throw, tho most guys go down before I can even do a throw lol. It's successful because both Judokas and Jiu Jitsu guys have a difficult time dealing with it and I mean it can still be used against wrestlers but yeah wrestlers are not gonna be taken down with such a basic move nearly as easily, because they know how to deal with it. The body drag is simple, it's neither flashy, nor fancy but it's easy, it's quick and it works and if ur a bigger guy trust me this move is for you. I'm a Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt and I can't stress how successful this move is, however the taller ur opponent is the more difficult it's gonna be to pull this move off but if ur opponents tall then I'd suggest you go for running the pipe, it'd be ridiculous for you to attempt an over head styled takedown on an opponent that towers over u cmon'. 😝

I feel like the body fold takedown isn't taken seriously or used as much as it could be. As often as people wind up clinched. Its a gracie JJ basic technique, but I think people learn it and leave it. And prefer the more showy or explosive stuff.
