Intro to Slide Guitar - Basics for Starting Out

This is an introduction to slide guitar for those who are just starting out. I give what I believe are the basics one needs to know to start learning slide as well as my own (somewhat subjective) preferences. Some knowledge of music and guitar playing is assumed.

Great info Edward, I remember the first time I heard the sound of slide guitar. I was 19 years old back in 1986 and saw the movie "Crossroads". I was so blow'in away by the sound of slide, I just had to learn how to play. That movie and that distinct sound will forever stay in my memory. I really like the open G tuning, but I am going to dive into open D as my goal for this Winter is to learn "Feel'in Bad Blues" from the Crossroads movie, originally done by Ry Cooder.
