Super Beginner Slide Guitar Lesson

Hello friends,
In today's lesson I'll show you how to play slide guitar! This tutorial will demonstrate how to play a clear and pitch-perfect note, how to perform a major triad, and how to perform the cmajor scale using your slide. These techniques are commonly used by players like Derek Trucks, Duane Allman, George Thorogood and Johnny Winter. Let's get started!

This is a good lesson especially because it's in standard tuning. A lot of people (even experienced players) will quit playing slide because the moment they start because it usually sounds so awful at first - like an asthmatic cat. What a lot of players don't know is that it doesn't take a whole lot of practice before you can basically sound passable on slide. I like that the teacher here is talking about right-hand muting too- which is a really critical component when playing in standard tuning. Great beginner lesson.

Had a bit of a mate many moons ago who was one of the best slide players in the world, but he mostly played it for himself. Professionally he played more of almost every other style, than slide, even the old goanna would get more of a run. Sitting in his lounge listening to him just playing for himself was a massive privilege because while he was great at everything, his slide was something else, plus he never played anything to show off, only employed maestroship if it improved the musicality.

I bought a slide for my guitar I hope it works cause I bought it cause I Have cerebral palsy which affects the Ability to use my left hand to play guitar i certainly hope a slide can help me out cause cause for the last 2, years all I've wanted to do is play guitar I mean cause its can be played on one string I can play the smoke on the water intro but that's it so I hope a slide can help me get better at guitar

One of my friends used a slider to almost perfectly recreate the Chicago tornado siren on his Electric guitar.


Edit: The more that I think about it, the more it becomes one of the most inspiring things for me. Of all things to really motivate me to get good at guitar, it's my friend with 2 years of experience making his guitar sound intentionally horrible.
