Atom and VSCode literally solve most of the problems that I ever have!

JetBrains products for students are not just free for one year. But you have to renew the license for each additional year you are enrolled in college.

"5.1. Customer may renew its Product subscription for another year by submitting a written request to JetBrains 30 (thirty) days prior to the end of the Toolbox Subscription term."

dude atleast give vim an honorable mention or smt! It's damn good if you configure it right. I actually can't stand using other text editors because of how much I'm used to vim.

There's lot of difference b/w memory/system resources usage of Vs code and sublime (which is really the fastest). This made me switch from VS Code to sublime.

I would place VS Code, Sublime, and Atom under the category of IDE. They have syntax highlighting, code completion, and build tools as well as git integration. NetBeans is an IDE offered by Oracle for Java development.

Brackets is my go-to editor atm (may change after I finish the video); and it does have autocomplete and split-pane view, and their extensions are enough for me.

I have been a freelance php developer for 9 years now. I started with notepad++. Now sublime text 3. I have never been impressed with IDEs. I have tried to use quite a few of them but none of them open as fast as ST3.

Xcode isn’t only used for Swift. It also supports C, C++, and Objective-C programming. It would be more accurate to say Xcode is for native Unix development in general.

I don't use an IDE because you become dependent on them. Instead I use a DOS editor called epsilon that I got in the 1980s (probably before the author of this video was born). Years ago I got updates and a Windows version but never used them because I like the full screen 80x25 mode of the DOS version. I had to learn the key sequences, but it wasn't hard. In the mid 1990s linux appeared and I discovered that epsilon is really a DOS clone of the UNIX emacs editor. That made it easy for me to become proficient at linux. I find code completion to be distracting to the point I almost can't program. What is important to me is code coloring which reveals the context of code.

I'd say JetBrains is well worth it if you're not a Vim elitist - after the likes of Visual Studio (with and without ReSharper) and Eclipse, their IDEs are really fun and an absolute joy to use.

Real OGEEs force terminal to accept the whole program, compile it, and run it. Then to remain in The Architect's good graces the terminal will automatically upload new versions to git while the he sips a $50 espresso out of highly stylized hand crafted $25 Irish coffee mug. "Why?", you say. Simply, The Architect only needs to exist to flex upon the hordes of developers still using an IDE.

When you see The Architect sitting and staring into his screen with his espresso he is not daydreaming, but a more grand flex upon the weebs. He is speaking machine language to his terminal for the ultimate flex.

I use NetBeans in my Java class. It's an Oracle based software, so it's basically for Java. There are other things it can do though.
