Glad you brought up audio. Our lecturers/mentors during vocational film school phrased it like this; you can make a film with mediocre video quality and still fully engage the audience with good audio (for example The Blair Witch Project), but if you’ve got perfect video quality, a good story, yet bad audio, the audience will be completely robbed of being immersed — they can’t “forget” that the audio is bad, but they can “forget” that the video quality is.
