I really felt bad for Cal during all the time he appeared in the movie, he just wanted to be a good racer and continue with the legacy of The King, but Dinoco dosen't even love him and after Cruz was accepted as a Dinoco racer, we didn't knew more about Cal.

I love the storm symbol there. Nice move by Pixar! The color blue suits well with black and gray on Storm's paint.

Fun Fact: Lightning's friends are named Bobby Swift and Cal Weathers, which seem to be a nod to Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton, Jr. from Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, which was released in the same year that Cars came out. Cal Weathers' name is also a nod to actor Carl Weathers who played Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky movies, and also provided the voice of Combat Carl in Toy Story of Terror. The training scene on Fireball Beach between Lightning McQueen and Cruz Ramirez is a tribute to the beach training scene in Rocky III between Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed.

As a major fan of NASCAR, I immediately knew that it was Kyle Petty voicing Cal. Plus, they gave Kyle his actual number.

And I'm pretty certain that the name Cal is because that's what Kyle sounds like when you say it with a Southern accent

I always found it strange that Lighting never reached out to Jackson in any way. I know the point is that Cruz is his protégé, but Jackson is basically pre-character development McQueen, even down to his name. It seemed so strange to have him stay a one note rival.

In 2017, The Car Was Acted From Kyle. And Made Jackson To Win The Florida 500.

And Made Cruz To Help Mcqueen To Win.

Jackson Storm would have had a comeback if they made a 4th one 👀

What’s funny is that “except for call” line at the end of the video from the movie was probably an inside joke between the Petty’s because Richard was a nascar legend so when Kyle joined there was incredible pressure on him to live up to that level of talent, but Kyle had a relatively unsuccessful career in nascar unfortunately.

Love the "betrayed" ending intro very funny 😁

Another fact:
Jackson Storm's top speed is 214 mph (which is equivalent to 344.4 kph.), is a 2017 "Next-gen" race car, and has a carbon fiber body. 🙂

Kyle Petty has always been a good sport about being picked on for not being as great as his father. That isn't to say he never found success; he most certainly did in the early 90's, but given that Richard Petty won 200 races and 7 championships, Kyle never came even remotely close.

Part of that is reflected in the characters constantly picking on Cal

Maybe it's off-topic, but for me it's real shame that they didn't show us Storm's reaction after Cruz's win. I would like to see he's shocked, furious, jealous or frustrated. Something like with Chick Hicks but opposite situation because Storm lost when he was so self-confident and arrogant. In my opinion this would improve average ending.

I feel like in this universe, there’s a debate among the fans about who the greatest Piston Cup racer of all time is, between Strip Weathers and Lightning McQueen, similar to the Schumacher vs Hamilton debate in the real world.

Also it’s harsh of Tex to say Cal, a 2 time Piston Cup winner, wasn’t a great racer so dismissively like that, although obviously he doesn’t compare to Strip, McQueen or Doc Hudson. He did wink though so he was probably joking.

Another good I would like to talk about it in the 3rd movie after Cruz beat Jackson storm In the race, is what happened to storm after he lost the race? Because they just left us in the dark and it’ll be very interesting to know what happened to him!.

I love how they adjusted the tropical storm symbol to match Jackson storms personality I think it's really clever!

I would have never ever in my life thought that there would be…SO MUCH LORE from Pixar’s Cars. I never watched anything past Cars 1 and the only lore that continued for me was the tie-in video game w/ the slappin soundtrack.

I think the movie makers of Cars did a really good job with the design and personality of Jackson Storm. They made him to be the perfect version of a young Lighting Mcqueen that was sleaker and had a killer mentality when it came to winning. Rookie Lightning Mcqueen was talented and had a lot of speed but he seemed to be playful and made foolish decisions such as firing multiple crew chiefs and only taking gas towards the end of the piston cup race whereas Jackson Storm is smart and knows he's the best and gets into the heads of his competitors. It's also interesting that we have rarely seen Mcqueen win races, in cars 1 he tied the first race and chose respect over winning causing him to lose the 2nd race we saw. In cars 2 he lost to Francesco because of Mater for the first race, we finally see his first win in Italy, but the race in London was interrupted. Car 3 we see Mcqueen win once, but we also see how Jackson storm is a more efficient version of Mcqueen winning the piston cup in his rookie year and breaking speed records. Even in design Jackson Storm seems to be Lightning Mcqeen's fate and I honestly thought he was Mcqueen''s son or relative when I saw the Cars 3 trailer for the first time and saw Mcqueen crash. Jackson Storms design features a cool blue thunderbolt similar to Mcqueen having a thunderbolt and his last name "Storm" is similar to Mcqueen's first name "Lightning" since they both have something to do with extreme weather. Mcqueen rushed into the league at lightning speed, but Jackson took the league by storm and storms encompass lighning. If the Cars franchise is to move on after retiring Lightning and continue to focus on racing I think they should have Storm as either the center character or play a big role in the series because I don't see Curz Ramirez being a character interesting enough for people to want to watch Cars. Most of the people that are fans of Cars are boys and they would want to watch a cool badass guy character that has a design which stands out compared to other races. Jackson Storm's design is much cooler than Cruz Ramirez design which is kinda plain and Storm's design is similar to Mcqueen's which a lot of people loved. Storm's design is like a high tech version of Mcqueen which I believe would bring back old memories to older viewer who grew up watching Mcqueen.
