Breaking: Nick Sorensen is out as 49ers defensive coordinator

The 49ers have decided to move on from Nick Sorensen as defensive coordinator after one season, a league source told NBC Sports Bay Area.

It's gonna take time to get the players needed to revamp D. Couldn't stop the run and they struggled at times prior season. Losing more on D to FA will make any coordinators job a challenge. Hope they are open to trying different things on D.

It seems like it was too big of a role for him. I don't wish anything negative for him, but there were times I watched the playcalling and was scratching my head. I actually hope he stays on in some role, mainly because he wasn't quite giving a strong deck of cards like his predecessors, so I can't put it all on him, but it felt like he couldn't get the most out of his players. Bring me Robert, Jeff, or even Antonio Pierce (dont throw rocks at me yet; he actually has a decent resume)

I loved Ulbrich as a player, but I haven't seen much of his Defense play.
