Glowing Gas Halos Around Quasar Surprises Astronomers | Images + Visualization

Using the MUSE instrument on ESO's Very Large Telescope in Chile, astronomers have discovered 19 quasars with large bright halos of gas surrounding them. According to their statistics, they only expected to find 2 halos in their survey.

That looks like the magnetic field around the birth of a brand new spiral galaxy forming. In the 2nd pic you can see the spirals starting to take shape.
