Whoops, slight correction necessary: it was Lio Convoy who sealed the Angolmois the Nemesis had sucked up into capsules, not the Nemesis itself!

"So...how should we advertise the new BWII special?"
"With *WIENERS."*

The advantage of Japanese BW is that because it used the traditional pen and paper approach to animation, they were able to incorporate more characters in the series. More characters means more merchandise to sell to audience.

We have to give credit to Karyuudo Fansubs for finally subtitling BWll and BWNeo so we can enjoy them. It wasn't too long ago when information on these shows were scarce because no one had translated them.

I still love that there’s a character named BIGGGG CONVOYYYY

I may have learned more new Transformers facts this single episode than the rest of the year combined. It was definitely a big hole in my Transformers knowledge.

The fact that this man sits through every show that a character appears in to make a basics episode just goes to show how much effore he puts into these amazing videos.

Honestly, Japans Beast era and the Unicron Trilogy are my favourite parts of the Transformers.
And I seriously wish that we could get more proper figures of both eras, like what Lio Convoy has gotten.
Because I want a decent update to BW Galvatron, that design is awesome.

In hindsight, obviously, it's a bit surprising that II and Neo never got dubbed into English, especially during a time when Canada was importing and dubbing anime. Could just Gary Chalk it up to Hasbro not wanting to over saturate the market and confuse kids or anything.

I still wait and hope, for beast wars 2 and neo come to DVD. like the Japanese G1 cartoons

That Unicron toy looks amazing. I wish they’d release it today.

I gotta say, Japan putting a comedic twist on Beast sounds pretty hilarious. I wouldn't mind seeing more figures from BW II and Neo pop up in Transformers Earth Wars

I'm just amazed it was apparently quicker to create two entirely new hand-drawn animated cartoons, and associated original merchandise, than just waiting for Season 2 of Beast Wars, and how much of a knock-on effect that's had down the years.

If you think about it, Car Robots is like Beast Wars II but reversed and set in different time period.

But yeah, Lio Convoy aka Leo Prime is right after Optimus Primal; most famous Maximal commander while Big Convoy has been almost obscure Maximal commander.

This was good 101 basics for Japanese Beast Era.

Fun fact: Optimus Primal, in the Japanese dub, is voiced by Takehito Koyasu.
Takehito Koyasu also voiced Dio in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Zeke in Attack On Titan and Roswaal in Re:zero.

I just love how beast wars II still tried to make sence with their beast forms for the most part choosing strong savanna animals(and a frog) but neo just trew that out of the window and had a team consisting of Penguin, bunny, tanuki, giraffe, cobra, horse with their leader being a mammoth. And It's not like the Opposite team made much sence with dorks including witch doctor stegosaurus and the ultimate shell former nautilus

That moment when you realise you've been mispronouncing Lio Convoy as Leo Convoy for twenty years

As neat as the Japanese Beast Wars stuff is and Lio Convoy is my favorite Maximal, I do gotta wonder what the hell was Takara thinking when it came to their handling of the brand starting with Beast Wars.

It’s starting with the Japanese dub of BW that Transformers in Japan really began to be catered to a younger, younger audience, between the oddball jokes and alteration of the original scripts. That seemed to have carried over to BWII, Neo & Car Robots, and from then on the rest of the Japanese TFs alongside the Japanese dubs of Animated and Prime.

There just seems to be this weird perception of robots with sentience & personality being treated as children’s fare in Japan, VS properties like Gundam, Evangelion & Macross where the piloted robots are treated with far more gravitas. Why is that, when Western media generally treats both types of Robot stories equally?

7:40 gave me flashbacks to seeing Mach Kick's transformation for the first time. God, that thing was designed to destroy the concept of fun.
