i love the fact that rattrap is One of only THREE bots to make it from the first episode of Beast Wars to the last episode of Beast Machines. All those times he said "we're all gonna die", he was the rare exception

At last, my very first Patreon-sponsored episode! Due to being a 90s kid, the Beast Wars animated series is what led me to become the Transformers fan I am today. So it only made sense that my first sponsored episode would be on a character from the Beast Era, and I couldn’t think of anyone better than Rattrap. Also, I still get goosebumps every time Chris says my name.

I remember seeing Derrick’s gift of Animated Rattrap to Peaugh for a Twitter avatar - and then being completely shocked when Rattletrap appeared a few weeks later in Animated itself.

My second favourite line of his was when he entered Ravage's ship. "All right you stinkin' Decepticon piece of cheese, let's see how you stand up against a stainless steel rat!" A reference to fictional character Slippery Jim DiGriz, The Stainless Steel Rat.

We humans have really done a number on the Transformers relationship language. They started out with things like creator, brother, sister, boyfriend, and girlfriend. Now they have mom, dad, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, cousin, and former roommate.

Another thing about Rattrap from the Beast Wars animated series was his love of gadgets and propensity for explosives. Beast Wars Rattrap always had a couple of miniature explosives on hand, his most amusing use of them was when the Predacons had control of an alien vessel and Tarantulas had the place secured with a laser web forcefield, where he made a comment about such forcefields being designed so that you can't disable them by blasting them because of how their energy redirection matrix worked, so he and the returned Transmetal Optimus Primal used a pair of high out explosives with similar yields Rattrap was keeping in his personal storage on opposite sides of the barrier to trigger a forced shutdown. Rattrap was also the first one to make interested comments on any new devices that appeared on either side of the conflict, promptly before trying to figure out how to blow it up and destroy it when it was on the Predacon side of things. When he went to rescue Cheetor, Rattrap used a device called a "hot box" to fake his heat signature when he immediately realized that Tarantulas was looking for him via thermal vision. And despite his distrusting nature and hatred for Predacons, Rattrap begrudgingly worked with Tarantulas to destroy the alien vessel after the spider had been ejected from the vessel by Megatron before preparations for a trip to Cybertron, the two worked together to devise the best way to destroy the vessel via transwarp cell explosion in transit without Megatron noticing what the plan really was but went right back trying to offline each other after the operation was completed.

Rattrap's lament over his new robot form in Beast Machines probably stemmed from his own feelings of inability to fight back without his favorite gun or explosives; even though his most dangerous aspect was most likely his resourcefulness, but he was quick to adapt. He adapted quicker than most of his fellow Maximal to adapt to combat during the truce agreement, with Waspinator ironically being the only one to adapt quicker than him among the sides as a whole, and when the Maximals ended up having their animal natures bleed through in one episode, Rattrap was one of the first to find the programming block and disable it before figuring out how to make his beast and robot forms work in harmony in battle.

rattrap design is actually really fitting with his personality, and his choise of beast mod is the wisest among the beast wars characters, and he's probably one of the best beast wars breakout characters, besides dinobot, rampage, depth charge etc....

There's no denying that Rattrap's been through a lot since Beast Wars and his character really has come a long way, it's great that his presence and his popularity have grown and he's done quite a lot and is still doing alot.

The episode where Rattrap went up against Sentinel was a miracle work. Rattrap immediately went from a character I hated to my favorite Maximal in under half an hour.

Pairing Rattrap with Starscream was a brilliant idea in the comics honestly.
