How do I approach an older woman (if I’ve only had same-aged partners)?

Good advice Susan! Younger guys need to know that just because a woman is older doesn’t mean she wants to be in charge. She wants her man to act like a man not a guy who needs to be mothered.

I've dated quite a few older women and guys all I can say is that it's absolutely worth it. I was 25 and dated a 53 year old let's just say that much. I was always polite, direct, and most importantly myself which in turn shows confidence. Older women are awesome!

I went for an older women once when I was much younger (around 19, I'm now 46) and she turned me down; but she did it gracefully and with my feelings in mind. She was 38 and had a 15 year old son, looking back I realized (now that I have a wife and two kids 14 and 19) that I was trying to play way out of my league. An older women (especially one with kids) does not have time for a 19 year old who barely knew what he wanted out of life. If I were single now, I would be much appealing to an older women as I have the maturity and life experiences to understand and appreciate the complexities and beauty of an older women (just as my wife is now).

Most women between 18-30 definitely have their ego all over the place, like Susan said. If an older woman means clarity in regards to various aspects of relationship, maybe this is the way to go.

Dudes... you approach women that are older than you the same way you approach women your age.
A woman of 20 and a woman of 50 is a woman.
Of course, if I want to approach older women they are 60 and up... same rule applies.

Beware. I liked older women for maturity. But most play teenage games. Instead of saying what they mean. You will likely be seen as a toy. And have imbalance in the relationship.

I want a woman who is very close to me in age, so we will have the same things in common.
Also her children are grown and out of the house.
If she is, say, three years younger than me, when I am 100 and she is 97, I would be afraid that she would be going after the younger guys in their 80s. How could I compete with them?

Hi Susan, I don't have a lot of experience dating older women, but you have so much good insight and points that never really crossed by mind. Older women are so much more intimidating to me, they are (such as yourself) seen so much smarter and more experience than I, but that's what I love the most about older women. It's so hard not to put them on a pedestal, I know I shouldn't.
