Sony REVERSE Their Helldivers 2 Plans... Account Creation No Longer Required!

What a huge win for PC Gamers.

Even as late as yesterday I didn't really think Sony would reverse this as full or this quickly but it's clear that this movement caught Sony off guard and caused them to do a total back flip.

Great news for Helldivers 2 fans but also PC gaming as a whole, maybe now other game companies will think twice before inconveniencing their customers.

Also, remember that Sony NEED PC gamers more than we need them. They've admitted to console sales being stagnant and their only real chance of growth is through PC. If they try and do a double reverse of this in a few months or time or pull anything else, now we know how to get them to cave...

Positive news all round in a world where us customers very rarely have the last laugh.

Really happy for Helldivers 2 players! Hopefully this encourages gamers to be more active and willing to say 'no' to nonsense and practices like this. Review bombing and especially boycotting their games really does hurt their bottom line.

Now I'm waiting for news articles from game "journalists" trying to argue why this and Sony bending the knee to its customers is actually a bad thing for the gaming industry.

Love being part of the pc community, we stick together and never bow down for anyone, we won again guys. I changed my review on the situation on Steam from negative to positive, even though I'm not even remotely interested in the game, hope everyone do the same so they can see that we appreciate that they listen to us.

The fight isnt over yet they still want psn for ghost of tsushima multiplayer, we have to keep it up and force them to remove psn and stop demanding it period.

Great and all but PSN linking is still required to play multiplayer on other upcoming titles such as Ghost of Tsushima, so again we're still restricting other countries to be able to play online when they purchase their game.

There's more PC gamers and players than there are PS, Xbox, and Nintendo combined. By a huge margin. The "profit/loss" set up to Sony is all that matters. If they had continued doubling down it would only hurt them later down the line... maybe even with Ghost of Tsushima. I, for one, am no longer even tempted to get that game - and right up til this nonsense started it was on my Wish-List on Steam. Sony's lost me already for that game - I was going to get it a month after launch (to make sure it was a good port before purchase)... now I will revisit my decision in a year. Or two. Maybe more. Likely never. For ANY Sony game.

They have to walk the walk, now. They have to "re-list" HD2 to the entire world, allowing all those Helldivers that they have just kicked out to return; they have to keep PSN far away from the game as they can - most I would accept is an optional choice only. And they have to simply start acting like decent human beings.

Too many Sony-Ponies under their thumb for so long made them overconfident. PC gamers are a wildly different breed of beast.

And we're the ones - on average - with the most free cash to splurge. Someone buying a PS5 is out of pocket by, what? £500 or so? I spent £5000 on my recent gaming rig... and that was 2 years ago and I've upgraded it since. Sony want what Microsoft/Xbox has: a hand in my pocket with me paying them for their games - they know people like me simply laugh at their piss-poor console systems and will not get them - so: do you piss off the new money-source, or do you wake up and realise "we'd best act like good businessmen and not mafioso scum"?

When people act together, en masse, things can change. To all those who say "Oh, I'm only one person: what good will it do for me to try?"... here's your answer.
