I'm most interested in the new CPUs to be honest. I would rather manufacturers focus on installing faster RAM (eg 1Rx8) in dual channel and Nvidia work on reducing iGPU usage during gaming. Both these things impact us the most. No point having a super GPU when it's being bottlenecked elsewhere...

Right now is the best time to buy a bang for buck chunky gaming laptop. Legions, GP66 and Asus Strix all heavily discounted, plus this generation has a huge correlation between TGP and performance and the above Chinoy laptops have great TGPs.

For thin and lights the choices are a bit disappointing. Waiting could be an option.

About RTX 3000 series cards - GA103 chip was spotted in leaks, which apparently will be called a "3080 ti for laptops" and will feature around 7600 cuda cores which is noticeably more than the current 3080m, finally there will be a laptop GPU that'll match desktop 3070 in performance and not just specs. Might even beat desktop 3070 by a little if it's a 165 watt variant.

yeah I think it's like this - if you need mostly GPU performance and need good battery life then current Legion 5 with Ryzen is the way to go. If you need max CPU performance possible, best battery life and you want Intel then definitely wait. 2022 might also bring 240 watt compact type c chargers which will make gaming laptops way more portable than they are right now.
