How to remove a Target security tag with a key

Context: my wife bought a dress from Target while we were in the US. When we got home to Canada she realized the security tag was still attached as we used the self checkout.

Worked perfectly...went thru self check out and totally forgot about it...went.back but the store was closed & have an early flight in the AM..Thank you for sharing (used a heavy duty key reg keys are too soft)

The fact that there’s so many videos how to remove target security tags make me think they do it on purpose so when u go back to remove them, they hope u will buy something else! They gave me an attitude about removing my tag even with a receipt!

Thank you so much. I just came back from Vegas and found my last minute purchase of Raiders Cap for my brothers has a tag. I did a self check out and did not notice the tag as I was in a hurry to return to the hotel and catch my flight to DC. Luckily I found your video. Thank you once again my problem was solved

Thank you for the video! It came off pretty easily with a nail filer. Bought a pair of jeans from Target and used self checkout. Only after coming home, realised the security tag was still there. Saved myself a trip to the store.

Thank you! I flew to our corporate for a meeting. We normally wear jeans and polos for meeting at the business units. I found out I needed slacks. I ran to Target and grabbed some cheap slacks only to find out they left the tag on!! I made it to the meeting on time thanks to this.

I used scissors that were closed up, and popped it off in under a minute without any strain. Yay!

this was insanely easy!! i was trying to follow another video where a guy used angled pliers to pull the back end apart and disable the magnet mechanism. this was so much quicker.

I started using a key but looked like it was going to bend so I used some heavy duty scissors with the same technique..took about 5 sec..

Allow me to add: Be careful where you put your fingers as you pull the thing apart! Underneath the "button" there is a sharp doodad, like the business end of a push pin. I barely missed impaling my thumb on it.

You can also use a screwdriver or the back of a hammer to pry it open and it just falls off
