Metatarsalgia and Morton's Neuroma are common foot problems seen in many individuals. Unfortunately, people wait too long before having it treated. In this video, I will discuss how to differentiate between the two and some simple management suggestions that work really well for me.

Thank you so much.
When I first searched metatarsalgia on YouTube, so many crappy videos show up.
I have seen a podiatrist at my VA hospital and was prescribe very generic orthotics.
The problem persists, so I joined a couple of Facebook group on metatarsalgia and all the posts were about how nothing works.
Today, I go back on YouTube to see if I can find a better video, and this one was the best. Thank you for being so giving with your time to answer questions in the comments, I took screens shots of them all, including the links, they were filled with great information.
Thanks again!

Yes. That is correct. The Morton's neuroma (nerve/tumor) will cause tingling.

I've just watched your video. I have had both issues for around ten years it's unbearable at times. I've tried many different things. Because I was a technician I have to wear boots all the time and now I work in a factory on a cement floor. Perfect right. I'm always looking for better ways to relieve the pain. Your video is a great insight for me thank you.

I've been to the doctors, foot specialists and still in pain. Watching this video I'm now pain free and the lump has drastically reduced in size, just by moving the cushion pad I was using. I've watched video after video but this one is amazing.

Incredibly clear and helpful-- thank you! Shooting electric pain in left foot, between 3rd and 4th, yep. Changing out of my new shoes tomorrow-- zero support there!

Have you tried a custom orthotic with a metatarsal relief bar? Also, a tight calf muscle is one of the biggest contributing factors to Morton's neuroma and metatarsalgia. Use a slant board to stretch your calf.

Your explanation helped me to understand in 2 minutes what a visit to a "doctor" I saw last week. I am in such pain that I can barely walk. Almost $600 later and still no solution. All he did was to say I need to use a little pad on my shoes, and stretch exercises. I am still waiting to know what exercises I am supposed to do!!!! He left me in the room and never came back!

I have Morton’s neuroma due to breaking my foot. It’s very painful. I’ve had two injections. They haven’t worked. I’ve been using tape which helps. I’ve got orthotics and a size larger boots. My feet burns and also go very cold at times.

Thank you for the information!! I will need to see my podiatrist to determine which one I have. All I know is I am in pain in that area for some time now:(

Good explanation. My podiatrist treating my plantar plate tear, advised changing footwear to (and this is not an advertisement!) Hoka One One runners. Almost not flex through the forefoot so metatarsal movement is very limited. And that has been very helpful in reducing daily discomfort and pain.

I got somehow metatransalgia from cycling (maybe the shoes are too tight. My pain however, isn't on the high arc or above it but just below. It doesn't seem to go away. As soon as I walk it gets painful.

This is a best explanation to differentiate two type of pain on metatarsals area. I haven’t had any Morton neuroma but have been struggling with the pain at the ball of my foot.

My feet don’t feel like there are rocks in them; they feel more like the bone is about to pierce through the ball of each feet and the curve of each heel. At best, they feel bruised. I’ve been icing them and putting CBD isolate muscle rub and Arnicare gel on them. I tried buying an insole from Amazon, but I don’t know how to tell if it’s actually designed for metatarsalgia or not. Wearing certain shoes feels better and others worse. It’s weird. Nike Pegasus feels better, Asics Gel-Excite worse. Some memory foam shoes I never heard of feel better, Skechers memory foam feel worse. I dunno what the difference is, but I wish I could just make the discomfort and pain finally stop and my feet be healed and normal.

Hi I have Morton’s Neuroma, plantar fasciitis and I’ve also got a plantar fibroma. I’m in a lot of pain with all these feet problems.

Can you have both Metatarsalgia and Morton's neuroma? What if your foot becomes majorly numb each night. Then reduces during the day. There used to be tingling and the skin felt burning, but that ended. There always seemed to be extra layers of tissue at the ball of my feet. I visited a podiatrist and he just gave my foot a shot for pain relief. He didn't discuss any more and didn't verify what is in my feet. Schuler Shoes store gave me special rocking shoes and a special internal sole with a high arch and extra padding at the center (below the ball of your foot). Should I go back to a different podiatrist?

Pretty certain I have the metatarsalgia this all make a lot of sens but do you have examples of the "cliff" type ortho inserts we should look at? dimensions etc..thinking of trying to make my own to see if there is some sort of respite to the pain..unfortunately I can't even play more than 5 holes of golf before I have to take my shoes off due to extreme discomfort..barefoot walking seems to help. thanks for the video!
