Full Story:

Al Capone, the notorious gangster, had a face that was hard to forget. His most striking feature were his scars. But how did Capone get those scars?

The story goes that a young Capone was working as a bouncer in a brothel when he insulted the sister of a local hoodlum. In retaliation, the hoodlum attacked Capone with a knife, leaving him with three distinctive scars on his left cheek. But some people dispute this story. They say that Capone's scars were actually the result of a bout of childhood disease, either syphilis or acne.

Whatever the true origin of his scars, they became a defining feature of Capone's appearance, and added to his already fearsome reputation. Capone went on to become one of the most notorious gangsters in American history, and his scars became a symbol of the violent and lawless era of Prohibition.

Over the years, Capone’s scars have been the subject of much speculation and interest. Some people believe that the scars may have been the result of a knife fight, while others believe they were caused by an infection. There are even some who think that the scars were the result of a self-inflicted injury.

Despite the mystery surrounding Capone's scars, they became a defining feature of his appearance and persona. They are perhaps the most memorable thing about him, and have helped to keep his legend alive long after his death.

In conclusion, the true origin of Capone's scars may never be known for certain. However, their impact on his life and on the popular imagination cannot be denied. Capone's scars became a defining feature of his appearance and helped to solidify his reputation as one of the most notorious gangsters in American history.

Slicing the face is a centuries old means of revenge. Still common today, one aspect of it is that the darker your skin, the whiter the scar material, making it even more pronounced. It’s not a knife strike you would use to try to kill someone.

Those scars arent syphilis. Although Al did die of syphilis. He was a bouncer at a brothel. That's were they say he contracted it. Rotted his brain so badly he had the capacity of a 12yr old. That syphilis ain't no joke.

He lived a block from me, well really an Ave. I lived on Garfield Pl. And 5 avenue and he lived on Garfield Pl. 5 and 4 avenue. He got fresh with the sister of a man that didn't have fear of a bully and cut his face to remember him.

It's ironic & amusing how scars back then was a sign of shame & defeat.
Now it's a sign of awe & strength especially battle wounds.

Those are blade scars, that much is clear. Disease doesn’t leave scar tissue like that. Capones scars remind me of gangs in Scotland who were infamous for their expertise in extracting revenge on rival gang members by cutting a Glasgow Smile into their face. Anyone visiting Glasgow or Scotland generally today will occasionally come across men with scars like that are not so dissimilar to scars on Capones face. It was a phenomenon that hit prime in Scotland in the 1920-30s era. exactly Al Capones prime era during prohibition. I’ve seen scars like that on a guy no older 50 years old back in 2022 on a visit to Glasgow, that old school gang intimidation shit was running a long time in Scotland.

The indention on the side of a gallon of milk that pops out when milk goes bad, was invented by Capone when a niece of his drank spoiled milk and became sick.
