Excel How to Conditionally Format Data Validation Selection

This video shows how to format all of the matching transactions based on the selection made in a drop-down. We use data validation to create a drop list on sheet 1. We then use conditional formatting to format the matching transactions on sheet 2. Specifically, we use these features:
- data validation
- defined name
- conditional formatting

How can I get the drop downs to conditionally format? Basically I want to format my data list with color/font that the dropdown is pulling from once my (in this instance) "customer" is selected.

In Data Validation, selecting custom, I have seen on youtube about "yes" "no" choices, I want to have 6 choice instead of two. how can I separate six values. please help thanks
