A secret that Ned kept for 17 years Jon couldn't keep for 17 minutes...

Dany: "So that means..."
Jon: "Yes that we're relat.."
Dany: "THAT YOU have a claim to the Iron Throne?!”

"That would make you the last male heir..." Hey Jon that would have been the perfect time for your "i dun wannit" bullshit

8 years of build up for this reveal, and in the end it didn't even matter, it still pains, this show could have been something else

I still don't know why Jon never mentioned Aemon Targaryen to Daenerys. I would have thought it would have come up in their first meeting.

Jon was the rightful and deserving heir.

A Targaryen.
Spent his childhood and trained with Ned Stark.
Spent time and trained with Aemon Targaryen in Nights watch.

He had all the potential and right to be the heir.

Jon Snow being a Targaryen was a well-kept secret no one knew but the people who were suppose to know at that time. Ned is a hell of a man to raise another man's son and call and raise him as his own son.

I love how Dany’s first concern was him trying to claim the iron throne

Still maintain the belief that he should have been king at the end. The entire story felt like it was building up to it, they devoted entire parts of Bran and Sam's plotline to it, and had REPEATEDLY shown Jon excelling as a leader and accepting that he needed to be one even though he was reluctant to do so, they even brought him back from the fucking dead. Yeah, GoT had been the epitome of subverting expectations - but it was always used in the right moments and it was George Martin's genius writing - as soon as they ran out of source material it was obvious they were trying too hard to keep up with the unexpected shock factor of the series, but there comes a point where you have to actually allow the foreshadowing to come through, and THIS was that point. Completely missed the mark at the final hurdle, never been more disappointed by an ending to a story.

whether Jon wanted the throne or not, he was raised by Ned Stark and one of his mentors was Stannis Baratheon, I'd think Jon would at least point out he doesn't 'have a claim' to the iron throne he is the one true heir to the iron throne

8 years of buildup for this reveal and for the arrival of the night king... just for it to be pointless at the end.
D&D managed to butcher what was he best show of all time.

While not a significant scene, I love that they show Jon paying vigil to Lyanna, the mother who he didn't know cared but ultimately gave her life for him and that Dany shared what she knew about Rhaegar. Up to that point, Jon didn't know anything about his biological father except that he took Lyanna and was killed for it, so it's nice that he had some background to Rhaegar's true personality.

He left everything contented knowing his parents were extraordinary people from great houses and truly cared for him. Imagine the weight on his shoulders if he found out that the destruction of the powerful House Targaryen, both in the Dance of Dragons and Robert's Rebellion, began over the obsession of his coming.

“You’d have a claim to the Iron Throne”

That’s where Jon should’ve pulled a Joffrey/Stannis and said “It’s not a claim, the Iron Throne is mine. By right.”

If Daenerys once respected Visery’s claim, then she should do the same for Jon. As a matter of fact, as the only surviving true born son of Rhaegar Targaryen, Jon has a better claim than Viserys or Daenerys ever did

Danny always felt alone and that she had no family left, finding out that she had another living family member would have made her more happier than getting the throne.
The fact that her main concern was the throne just goes to show how badly these guys did the story and what led to that awful ending.

Jon, that "last male heir" line would have been a great time for you to say, "Not necessarily. Let's get married." Everything would have been fine. She already loved you and you already slept with her, so she wouldn't see you as a threat and it'd be too late to be grossed out anyway.

I like how for normal people their first reaction would be: Holy shit I just f**ked my own nephew.
But for Daenarys it is: Holy shit I just lost my claim to the throne.

Danny's reaction is so disappointing. I was expecting a bigger shock.

“But don’t worry Dany, non of this will matter in the slightest to the overall outcome. I’ll kill you, they’ll banish me. I could’ve been a Stark bastard, or a random baby Ned found, would have the same level of impact. So relax, and let’s get back in that boat again”

It’s sad danny is so drawn to Jon. Honestly this knowlage should have strengthened them. They aren’t alone anymore. And together the House of Targeryan will be reborn
