If the schools can afford to pay athletes, then they can afford to stop milking the tax system while simultaneously raising the costs to attend.

Gotta disagree on this one my guy the college's make hundreds of millions off these kids names

Tatum is not lying at all about the athletes paying other people to do their homework

I don’t think they should be paid, but they should be able to make money off of their own name!

Based on your logic, if that's the case, make sure the school doesn't benefit from the "student athlete"

If you work you get payed. Scholarship is not payment, it's a benefit. These kids are working and making revenue for the colleges, they should be able to negotiate a real pay. It's a real job, they're not slaves. No amount of moral grandstanding changes that fact. I usually vibe with you, but it's morally wrong to not let them decide and negotiate the value of their labor.

If the college makes money on their name skills and bodies then the players should too.

I got a Pell grant to go to nursing school and it didn't even cover my books and tuition. I had to get a college work-study job to cover what my Pell grant didn't. How did he have so much left over to blow on rims and tattoos?!?

When I was young (in the 90's) college students and military had jobs. They worked in our local stores and delivered pizza etc. Now we never see that. Everyone gets a free ride.

I disagree. Athletes in college should most definitely get paid if sponsors want to endorse them.

I disagree. If an 18 year old is knowledgeable enough to join the military, he's grown enough to get sponsored and invest/ waste the money. It'd be cool if sponsors offered investment deals, but freedom is freedom. Young college athletes aren't 12 year olds.

Also more reasons for middle, and high schools to teach kids about finances, and how to do checks and balances, etc... all the things an adult should know. As well as the parents!

What other profession can your employer withhold pay by promising you "free education?" How about a mandatory course on finance and such. After that what they do with the money they earn is on them just like everyone else.

If they get paid then their scholarship should be null and void. If they have an income then they should pay for college.

I really think that they should, with reasonable perimeters. They do work hard and their bodies pay a hefty price. Other people work their way through college.

College coaches already get paid millions of dollars to get their players to play.

Athletes are already getting paid in college. A full ride scholarship at USC is $77k a year. That's a pretty big salary to play football in college.

I completely agree! And if they do there should be no more scholarships.

80% of ppl that got their degrees don't even work in the industry where it will do any good!! College is a joke these

They should be worried about getting an actual education to keep the money coming in, in the future. Most of them get full rides/big scholarships anyway.
