No wonder Phelps won all those medals, he was just trying to pay rent!

For countries that rarely get gold medals or even one medal in the Olympics, it makes sense to compensate their medallists a lot.

37k is not enough to train as a world class athlete. Not even close.

“amateur athletes” they in the damn olympics 😂

edit: im not saying they aren’t amateurs, the ladies right, it just doesn’t seem right to call someone representing your country in a sport, an amateur.

75% of American Olympic medalists receive sponsorship deals, which ranges from $10k to $100k. American athletes are working for substandard tips and amazingly they're still pulling medals. I'm ashamed of my country but proud of our athletes.

Every country should pay for their athletes costs. That’s a shame it isn’t being done.

The author of this video failed to mention ENTIRETY of what a Polish gold medalist receives: about $63000 + two-bedroom condo/flat + painting + diamond + travel voucher + monthly stipend while remaining a professional athlete + monthly pension of about $1000 after reaching age of 40 + sponsorship deals. Seems like a pretty sweet deal.

In Philippines, the most recent gold medalist (Carlos Yulo) would even be paid higher. As of the most recent computation, *it would sum up to FREAKIN' $901, 557* 😳 not to mention the flooding lifetime-worth offers and vouchers he got.

Well deserved either way, he was the country's second gold medalist since 1924 ❤️ clinching 2 golds at the Paris Olympics!

In Romania you get 140k € for gold, 100k € for silver and 60k € for bronze. On top of that, a former tenis champion that is a billionaire now will give every gold medalist a new hyundai ioniq 5 electric vehicle.

Don’t defend 37k for an OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL!? wtf are you talking about? We are the richest country in the world, and we’re exploiting athletes. Theyre broke and starving because they’ve dedicated their lives to their craft, and our reward for them is slightly higher than a minimum wage yearly salary
