Cass Scenic Railroad - Parade of Steam 2024

On June 15th Cass hosted their annual Parade of Steam event. As usual the event proved to be a success drawing big crowds in Allegheny Mountains. This year the engines were Shay 2, 4, 5, 6, and 11. The Climax had maintenance still to be done and couldn't make it to the event this year. This year they pushed the 1 hour river trains unlike the previous years when they were pulling which provided a great view at the end of the train. Fortunately I got to ride the 3pm excursion and it concluded the day. With beautiful weather and beautiful whistles I had a great time being back for the event and I'm already looking forward to it again next year. As always thanks for watching!

This brings back sweet memories of my first ride with family when me & my siblings were kids. Best experience ever! We spent an average of 2-3 weeks every year camping in the monongahela national forest at laurel fork campground. We started out very young camping & kept doing it until junior/senior year of HS. It’s my love & second home away from home. The mountains are my happy place. ❤

In certain spots on the Greenbrier line, you can definitely tell where the tracks had been washed out!

The 6 Chime on 11 this year is an original. You can see steam shooting out of the side where the vertical valve once was installed. I think the Heisler was delivered to Cass with that whistle and you can hear it in old audio clips. It sounds absolutely gorgeous!
