Not So Serious Keto Video Podcast #5 - Keto DUI, The Magic Pill Review, FAQs

Think of this video as an audio podcast (lots of me talking) with some video (mostly of me talking). I'll be discussing keto related topics that are in the news, discussing frequently asked questions from my viewers, and sometimes talking about some non-keto stuff (but probably cooking related).

In this episode, I talk about a news story that has hit my Google news feed three times this weekend about a guy who was fired from his job for driving under the influence (when he says that it was his keto breath that triggered the breathalyzer); I give you my impressions of the documentary, "The Magic Pill"; I answer a couple of frequently asked questions; and I talk a bit more about the comments and requests I get.

I have not seen The Magic Pill but obviously will be watching it today! I used nutrition and a physical therapy program to help my own son who is now 23. When he was 15 months old he had a bad reaction to his vaccines.... seized for several days. He was never the same after and at 3 they diagnosed him with severe autism and told me to put him in a home and forget he existed. Said there was nothing to be done and he would never be able to interact with society. He’s a 23 year old honors student with an adorable girlfriend. It was not a keto diet, per se, but it followed a lot of the principles and I’m actually having him fine tune his diet as an adult because more improvement is always possible. Now I’m finishing my masters so I can become a FNP and get my functional medicine certification because big pharma doesn’t cure.

Can someone get this man a Voiceover Contract with Sony or a Recording Company? He deserves it as much as anybody

Interestingly, I just finished watching your transition/weight loss videos and there were so many parallels to my life it reminded me of the catalyst that caused me to change my eating habits and start keto. It was The Magic Pill. I guess I thought that was what I needed since nothing else had ever worked.
I was a 67 year old female who weighed 215 lbs; had recently gone though a separation, job loss and death of a parent all at the same time. I was suffering from chronic pain, arthritis, depression, shortness of breath, acid re-flux and was also drinking too much. I had given up on ever being able to lose weight and I hated myself. When I watched The Magic Pill on Netflix I started researching immediately started Keto. It changed my life. So I have been keto now for 2 years; I've lost 45 lbs., I no longer have shortness of breath, chronic pain, acid re-flux or depression. I have energy. I encourage anyone who is having health/weight issues to check this documentary out.
Thanks for your videos.

I watched The Magic Pill 2 years ago and thought it was a fantastic film. So I started Keto the following day and have been doing Keto ever since. That film was a life changer for me. I have worked in the medical field for years. Let me tell you, the reps from big pharmas will sell their souls to get their pills into the hospital and doctors cupboards. I have many little "gifts" with pharmaceutical names plastered on them. Love your video podcasts.

Sitting on the floor wrapping gifts meant I faced an almost impossible and painful task-standing back up! I would slowly stand up and limp along until I could stand all the way up. Figured getting old just sucked! BUT only two and a half weeks into Keto and I am already amazed at the improvement in my joints! So thankful to have found it-and you! Thank you for all you do.

I totally agree Steve. This was a very good documentary. I had a disabled son so I was also highly affected by the little girl with autism and the young man in Hawaii with autism, after he made a complete sentence, that smile that comes across his face just gives me chills. After seeing a friends results on Keto which I had not heard of at that point, I starting doing some research on it. It was watching the magic pill that turned the table and made me decide to give this a try. A little late on the draw here, I am still binge watching older videos.

Watched The Magic Pill sometime ago. This documentary further cemented my belief that Keto was for me. I am looking forward to all the health benefits from Keto.

I've watched Magic Pill several times and recommended it to others. Yes, it reinforced my keto lifestyle! I also liked the part in Magic Pill towards the end where the former vegan was explaining how plant based agriculture is less planet friendly than raising livestock the 'old fashioned' way in pasture land--grass fed/grass finished.

I watched the Magic Pill just about the time I had finally come to grips with my diabetes. For 5 years I was in denial about my situation. About 4 months ago I finally made the decision to take control of my diabetes. I watched the magic pill a few weeks in of doing low carb. It grounded me and gave me direction. I recommend this documentary to every one any one that I can. I throughly enjoyed this documentary and was amazed at how this life style addressed these afflictions successfully. The autistic child ripped at my heart. The dad was so distraught but also hung in there. The women with cancer was amazing as well as everyone else applying this life style. What really left an indelible impression on me was the vegan who acknowledged the success of this life style for health reasons and became a convert. Incredible. Love your channel. Blessings to you for continued success!

In this video, I mention that the song at the end of "The Magic Pill" felt awkward to me. I'm not sure if they had mentioned earlier in the movie that the woman who sang the song was unable to sing pre-keto due to asthma. If they did, I missed that (and thus missed the point of her singing). It doesn't change that it felt a bit out of place to me, but I can certainly understand now why they put it in there.

The more I think about it, a lot has to do with her singing at the camera. I just get weirded out when I feel someone is singing at me (like the table side mariachi band). Had the camera angle been from the side, I don't think I would have felt awkward.

You have come so far since your first videos. Love your content, your consideration and appreciation of your audience. Don’t worry about the ads. You’ve gotta live. As a life-long vegetarian doing Keto I would love to see any recipes, tips etc to meet protein macros.

I just started keto about three weeks ago it’s been hard I have lost 5.5 lbs I weigh once a week I weighed 365.5 when I started. By blood sugars where in the 400’s I have got them in the high 100’s to lows 200’s. Last night was a bad night I had mashed potatoes with our dinner I was out of keto food. I am 71 years old, female and diabetic. Thank you for your show. It is helping me a lot. Thanks again

Hi Steve, I really like your videos and I thought it would be helpful to know why. Your voice is quiet and calm and your tone makes me think of an airplane pilot. :) You have a slight comic way about you even when you are not trying. I really appreciate your sincere and honest opinions about everything you talk about. Thanks for contributing to the Keto cause in your own special way.

For Mr. Flight Attendant, there is no mention of him getting his local involved. That’s unheard of!

The Magic Pill was a game changer! I introduced it to my best friend who struggles with her weight and whose husband was recently diagnosed with T2D. Keto is saving them!

What struck me the most about Dr. Noakes’ trial was watching the prosecutor. You could tell by his expressions that the information was resonating but he kept claiming he didn’t understand the benefit.

It’s frustrating that Netflix called the movie false information and that it made dangerous claims so it pulled it from streaming. Now you have to rent it on Prime.
I’d love to see a sequel!

Will have to check out the Magic Pill. I am a big fan of Joel Salatin. He is VERY huge in the homesteading community and we follow many of his methods in our little homestead. He is very right about how far removed from our food we truly are now. If people would follow his sustainability rules we'd have a far better world that's for sure.

No commercials! No ads! You took a break and came straight back .
I’ve read others say their hair came back to their natural color with keto.

Great video as usual. Would love to see a video that focuses on meal prep and that can be frozen. Time is the resource that I seem to have the least amount of. I think many people struggle because they don't plan ahead.
