Teaching numbers to the masses great work! I think this will help all the spec sheet warriors. Another thing that throws people off with older bikes is HP gentleman agreements between the Big 4.

Not only that, but the fact that HD still used air-cooled, push rod engines, they are capped in the power they can make without blowing themselves up.

More general since number of pistons per CC motor will affect bore/stroke accordingly anyways.

Less pistons (1-2): More low-midband torque, less rpm, less HP, better streetability
More pistons (3-4): Less low-midband torque, more rpm, more HP, less streetability

I used to brag about my dad's Kawasaki gpz making 900 horsepower when I was a kid 😂

Sometimes it ain't all about that power. I bought a 2024 Ninja 650, and I'm loving it. You can basically cycle through any gear and have power on tap. I've already put an exhaust and air filter on, with the final part being a Power Commander VI unit for it in a couple weeks. My only issue with the 650 from off the dealership floor, is that the throttle is very choppy at low rpms. If you very slightly twist it, it comes on at like 35% power and goes to 100%. All in all, I'd just recommend adjusting the throttle, but otherwise it's a fantastic bike

Adding CCs is the easy/cheaper route to more power compared to adding revs. That's why for example ZX6R went to 636cc when they were no longer constrained by racing regulations.

This explained a lot and I’m glad about that, my choice to try and get a 650 class has been further re assured

One thing i wanted to add, in India, when talking about the bestselling bikes, with exceptions like the classic and bullet, most or almost all of them are small 125-150 or even 160cc bikes that are absolutely dirt cheap, and also a lot of 200-250c bikes. I say 200-250 because some of them have 220 cc hearts as well. These bestselling bikes come from brands like Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj, Honda, KTM etc

If you're reading this Yammie. I've been lurking on this channel for a while and finally got to buy my first (self owned) bike. A 2022 RC 390 in India (I'm not an RE Simp xDD) and I've got to say you're videos have helped me alot.
So THANK YOU :)

I had to come back because I left at the ninja 650 part...which is exactly why I came here! Almost bought one but its specs didn't seem to add up. Makes sense now.

when can yammie find my stroke length?!?

It basically just boils down to how much air your head/heads can flow and if your cam/cams can adequately fill the piston bores via head flow. This is why race engines tend to be revvy and why street engines like to thunp. Because their heads and cam profiles are engineered in a manner as to get the desired outcome

Lol 😂! This was great content . I had to share with a few fellaz trying to get a 650 or 500. I was like okay! Just know we will leave you behind

Good to know that the limited cc in Europe doesn't limit me to snail speed.

I always keep thinking when watching the stock footage “why are you sitting behind cars, just split down the middle”. Then I remember he’s in Murica, the land of the free where you can go out on a litre bike as soon as you get your licence but your not allowed to lane split. 😂

At 2:09 you said 'bore cubed' (which is incorrect) but wrote squared on the formula (which is correct), since its (Bore/2)^2 which comes out as 1/4(Bore)^2.

Sorry Yammie I think I'll be failing my test today as you've told me to cube the bore while the screen says to square it

This is the reason why I base specs off torque rather than CC. It’s all about torque baby 😎
