My wife found a recipe for Bennigans Monte Cristo. Its even better than Bennigans. She makes it once every couple months. OMG, its so good.

when i was a kid in the sixties my dad used to talk about working in the woods all day when he was a young man in the winter. he said they would take sandwiches slathered with just bacon grease with them and at lunch time they would toast them over a fire. he said they were delicious.

You forgot the combination. Grilled ham n cheese with fried egg, lettuce, tomato, mayo. Breakfast, lunch, or brunch. All I ever ordered in a reastaurant in my small hometown when I was a kid. Best sandwich I ever had.
